    Extern dvd drive

    Hello guys,

I'm new to all the wii stuff, got my wii for 1 month ago, a black one. Just softmodded it with the 4.2 guide, but I got the information, that my wii doesn't read burned dvd's.

My question is: is it possible to plug in a extern dvd drive to watch movies or burned games?

Sorry if this is a stupid question or if there has been a simular question, which I actually didn't find.

    Regards

Pretty sure that's not possible (I could be wrong.) Your best bet would be to load from an external hard drive. Check out the usbloading link in my signature.

Got usbloader and everything to work, but since my dvd players broke, was I wondering about watching movies with an external dvd drive and load it via mediaplayer CE or something, don't really know the possibilities the softmodding gave me and since I'm new I want to be sure about all the stuff I can (not) do.

You can always buy an old wii thats broken(as long its not drive) from ebay or alternative and change the drives over.. That would work... Please Thank if I helped

He said "the black one" I'm pretty sure telling him to crack open up one wii is a bad idea, let alone tell him to buy a broken one and use it to mod his next one.

Use a USB Loader. Buying an external hd will be cheaper... definitely.

Sorry I missed a post in there.

I'm looking for the same question.

So far I've just halved my HD (its a 1tb) and I plug my laptop into it when when I want to watch movies on my TV from my external HD

You know MCplayer CE will play video from a ntfs partition on you hard drive and it can handle quite a few types of video. You don't even need your laptop.

Black wii will not play back up disks and you can't swap them with an older drive cause they're different.

...Or you could spend about twenty dollars and get a dvd player.

It would be cool if you have one just laying around the house, but it wouldn't be on my wishlist for a usb device as it can't play gamecube backups since it is still just a usb device.
Sent from my van, down by the river.
