Have tried connecting the camera to the PC (or insert it into SD Card reader for for the PC) and see what is on the SD card via the PC's Windows Explorer?

I think you will need to look into file recovery software, but what ever you do DO NOT try to write any wfiles on that card either via computer or by using it on your camera, so when you have it in the Camera don't try to take pictures. If I find any utilities for recovering files from SD card I will let you know, so don't use that sd card at all.

I'll need to purchase a card reader for this right? I have tried to take photos on the card but the camera won't let me.. thank god! but yea, why would this happen?? I only checked my photos on the wii and played the "puzzle game" with a few of the photos.. might that be the cause? the wii writes on the card when doing this? I'm very frustrated.. I'm almost wanting to SUE nintendo and have them buy me another 2400$ trip so I can retake the photos that are now lost...

Are the photos still viewable on the Wii? if so you may be able to use FTPii to transfer them from the SD card pluged into the wii to the PC.

I don't know any program that can view the SD card on Wii without first installing something on the Wii using HomeBrew channel. If your Wii has a modchip then you an use a backup of Zelda to install TP Hack. But before you go thru all that, can you see the pictures on the Wii?

Yep just checked and the wii still sees the pictures, all 411 of them! before going through all the trouble I think I'll find a card reader and see if I can get them off there! but then my sd card will be obsolete with my cam since it just doesnt recognize it anymore... stupid wii....

Yes, try the SD Card reader and see if that works first. Also don't worry about the SD card I'm sure you will be able to format it after transfering the pics, in any case you can pick up 2GB SD cards for $7.99 these days.
