    Need help burning ISOs.....

    Hey Guys

I just got a brand new Wii and had it modded by someone with the D2ckey. He tried it out with games he had burned and said it works perfectly. I have downloaded some games from mininova, copied them to my desktop and patched them with Wiii1.1 and everything seemed to work.

I downloaded imgburn and tried burning a few games at 2X but when I try and play them I get the 'disc is unreadable' message.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop with a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632H burner. I think this burner is a Samsung.

I tried changing the BOOKTYPE to DVD-ROM but after I burn it, I try playing it and still get the same error.

    Any help on this.....

My kids are anxiously waiting for Lego Star Wars....

    THanks again!!

    dvd media

    dvd media is important...
where your console is from in relation to what region your downloaded games are......whether you need to block

    Ca

    Hi guys

    Thanks for the welcome!!

I found alot of interesting info on this site so far....

The DVD I am using is a Memorex DVD+R on my Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop.

My next step was to purchase Sony or another brand of DVDs.

Are there any suggestions on what brand to buy??

My console is from the U.S. and when I run Wii1.1 I check to see if the ISO is NTSC USA, if not, then I will patch it.

I don't know if that is the right thing to do but I do't want to brick my Wii.

    Thanks again for the help!!

I also am using imgburn to burn the games and I don't think it will burn DVD-R.

    Ca dvd media types

whether a disc reads correctly on the wii....depends on several factors

all factors combined if the tolerance is out too much...then DRE

1/ Type of burner....most work for burning wii games...some better , some just ok

2/ Burning software and settings...(recommended is imgburn...then nero)

3/ although many of the brands with the cheaper type of dyes work...
some work better than others.....Now when you combine these 3
factors together ....say same brand of disc, same software & settings,
but different burners....it may work well for 1 person but not the other.
Since going way back... the TY's have be reknown as
Quality Japanese Gaming discs..with also now Verbatims for the wii.

Another Important factor to consider would be EARLY Laser Burnout....caused by using the dvds with lower quality dye....
Yes...it is a well known to burn out your laser way quicker...as the laser has to work harder to read the discs correctly .

    $75 for laser and $40-60 for install....ouch

Taiyo Yudens can be had in canada @ $35 per 100....Verbatims , when on sale are $24 per 100......

Treat your Wii well and it will give you Years of trouble-free entertainment....

Points we all may want to consider...or not...lol

    Cheers... Modderman

Well, I bought some Sony DVD+R discs but still get the 'unreadable disc' error.

I will try now to go from my laptop to my desktop and see if the burner is better............
