Wii Updated by game and backup launcher don't work anymore.
Hi,
I bought a newer Wii with 4.0U firmware version and with that came Wii Fit, i did the Softmod before all things and then, i put Wii Fit in the console to play it, it was asking me to do an update and i accidentally did that, now, my Neogamma do not work anymore. When i put a burned game in my console, it came up a black screen and then .. nothing .. can i do something to play backup again ?
Thank You for your answer
Edit: i DID NOT install Bootmii or Preloader and i DO NOT want to install it cause i don't want to hack my wii too much, just want to play games with backup launcher, nothing else. Also, i don't want to install a modchip don't know how it's working, just softmod Thank you again
Wish I could help. I was kinda wondering the samething. Dead space wants me to update but i'm just wondering if its safe to do so with my softmoded wii.
Usually a good rule of thumb to NOT update your wii after softmodding it. Your wii PROBABLY got updated to 4.2, here is a guide on how to softmod it again:

wii fit would not update you to 4.2, it only contains 3.1. no game will update you to 4.0/4.1/4.2 the highest disc update is 3.4 (unless your Japanese!)
The online update is a more likely cause, that would take you to 4.2
You should read the 4.2 softmod guide, linked in my sig.
EDIT: just seen your last post, you might want to make sure you have gone through all the steps in the 3.1-4,1 softmod guide.

NOT installing preloader and/or bootmii is potentially very risky, as both can help you recover from a brick. You either want to hack your wii or you don't, there's no point in doing half a job.
If you want to keep your softmods intact, you may want to stop playing retail discs. Next time you may not be so lucky. I think if you install preloader you will be able to block disc updates with it.
I'm too slow again. Dave's answer is better anyways.

what i was saying on "not too much" meant that, i just want to play backup games, don't want to do nothing else, maybe installing Wiiware and Virtual Console games but that's all .. don't want to run others homebrew or nothing like that ..
and i'm pretty sure that i gone through all steps, i was able to play backup before i did the accidental update of Wii Fit, but after that, i try to play a backup and it doesn't play, black screen ..
i was recommended to "safe update" to 4.2 then i will be able to re-softmod the console using the 4.2 softmod guide .. i think i'll do that if it is the easiest way to recover from this mistake .. and then, i'll try StartPatch option to remove updates (Disc and internet Updates), tell me if i'm wrong to do all this and if i can recover from this mistake easier than the other method
You're in trouble then, you need some kind of protection or your Wii may get bricked and it will not work anymore. Sometimes a Wii gets bricked on accident, so you may want to think about brick protection.
I don't have any brick protection either, I like living on the edge.
EDIT - maybe you should head over to the "Bricked Wii section" and read some posts there. Some Wii's become a paper weight or boat anchor.
