USB Power When Console Is Switched Off?

This is my first post, so I hope i've put it in the right place.

I've tried to search the forum for an answer to this but haven't had any luck.

Basically, i've just bought a Wii and a remote charger.

When I plug the charger into the USB port when the Wii is switched off (i.e. the light is amber), the charger has no power so doesn't charge.

Is there a way to switch on power to the USB ports when the console is in stand-by?

I read the manual, and it says you can do when a wireless network adapter is installed which I don't have.

Can anyone help me out?

I wondered about that also, some pc usb ports are powered when the pc is off and some arent, i opted for varta rechargeable batteries instead. You could also just get one of the mains adapters with usb socket for charging purposes.

If Wii-Connect 24 is enabled your Wii will have power and if your Wiimote charger connects using USB like mine does you can charge your Wiimotes while your Wii is in standby and if you use a USB Loader your USB will stay on which I don't recommend.
