It says in Step 4 to upgrade to 4.1. It's only really optional for 3.2 users. No cool hacks work with 3.3 or 3.4, no point being there.

You can update before you start or part way through the process. Probably easier to update first though, clean slate.

ok so I pretty sure I got it going thank you so much for your help easier then i thought. Only problem is I skipped one part in the guide. I didn't install preloader as it optional but i also skipped step a

    a) If you are on system menu 4/4.1 use Wad Manager with default settings (IOS249 & SD card) to install IOS60-patched.wad - make sure you do this before you install Preloader. If you installed it in step 4 then skip this part. Never uninstall IOS60! You will brick!!

Will I still be fine or will I have problems?

You can have it without patched IOS60 but you won't be able to play Wiiware and VC in the disc channel. Bit pointless having a disc channel without it to be honest.

Patched IOS60 puts the Trucha bug back into IOS60. It's worth having. I have it and I don't have preloader.

    Just don't uninstall IOS60.

Preloader is useful for the regionhacks, so would advise you to install it. Never can be to careful, so I have both BootMii and Preloader.

ok so I semi bricked my wii. Before I installed IOS60-PATCHED.Wad I copied over USB Loader GX. I installed 10s60patched.wad no problems. Then i ran preloader menu and want to homebrew channel and installed IOS50-64-v4889
    IOS53-64-v5149
    IOS55-64-v5149
    NeoGammaR7
restarted now when I boot up i get a corrupted files error.

I can get in by holding the restart button and geting into preloader. What should I do to restore and what want wrong? Was it cause I copied over Loader GX. I only copied it over I never overwrote anything.

    it says in the guide

If you get the 'system files corrupted' screen don't panic, just reinstall preloader and if that doesn't fix it reinstall your current system menu with Wad Manager.

how do I do that tho it didnt say?

Probably in much the same way as you installed it the first time. i.e. HBC and load Preloader.

As for the System menu bit. First know what System Menu you were on and install the relevant file via Wad manager.

It could be the USB Loader GX wad bricking you I suppose. If you installed it via wad manager then just uninstall that wad using wad manager accessed through preloader.
