Wow, these things sound even riskier than upgrading to 4.1 - the 4.1 upgrade should not brick the console, bootmii was supposed to be an extra failsafe, but obviously it is in fact an extra risk factor. Maybe I simply do not make a backup, and keep my fingers crossed.

If you have a semi brick and no bootmii as boot2 but can still get in to the HBC (e.g. preloader) you can still restore your nand (provided you backed it up)

You do need BootMii as an IOS. And then the magic can happen.

*Note1 BootMii as an IOS does require that you have a Gamecube Controller

*Note2 When it tells you to press A+B+X+Y you need to press them at the same time.

I would try that if i did not want to brick my wii. Maybe when I get an extra wii I will try that.

    From the bootmii readme:

    BootMii/IOS

NAND restore is technically possible, but not safe because you cannot boot to BootMii/IOS in case the contents of your NAND flash are corrupted.

What I get from this is you have a one time shot to restore your nand from BootMii/IOS. Pretty much if your nand is corrupt and you restore it using the IOS version bootmii, how the hell are you going to get back to the HBC?

i think they mean it is a hit or miss situation, where if you miss you get sys files corrupted, then nothing, that's why they say it...but for you this does not apply. cos you also have boot2... we need to investigate under which circumstances ios restoration may fail (when i say we, i mean, of course, you)... i was having a conversation with a guy that also did it (don't remember exactly) and all went well, so i made an assumption, that because bootmii only restores what wasnt there in the firstplace and does nothing to unchanged ioses, then you are safe as long as you don't have a corrupted ios36 which has to be overwritten during being used at the process.. but this is a speculation, more info should be needed

Well we all know that BootMii and team Twiizers hates modified IOS 36 because they see that modified IOS as a way for people to pirate from nintendo. We all know team twiizers hates pirates.

I needed to restore my nand the othe day and the savemii feature in boot mii stated that my nand was for another system which was bullshit. So i went on the wiibrew forums to see what they said and there was a work around. Then 2 days later bushing linked to the file in my sig. It is Bootmii .04test which also has HBC 1.0.4 (dont know what they changed in it)

Yes using 1.0.4 and the new boot2 here, haven't needed to restore NAND though.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.
