Nintendo Channel on soft mod 4.1U

I was wondering if anyone has tried downloading the updated nintendo channel that was released today in the US. I would imagine it would be safe, but I was just curious if anyone has tried it and would like to share the outcome.

    Thanks in advance

i am also wondering. i just picked up a used wii at gamestop with the intent of making it as awesome as possible, with as few downsides as possible.

it came with 3.4u, wondering if I should update so I can use the newer stuff that nintendo is using, and if i do, what will that block me from doing hackwise.

I read something about the preloaded not being able to run on the latest 4.0u firmware?

from what i understand the preloader is like a shortcut to boot you right into a wiiflow or coverflow type program? with this, can you still get into the main system menu?

should downgrade it to 3.2? I want to be sure i can run opera and youtube or any other cool channels as they come availble too.

I had no trouble with upgrading mine to 4.1 with the latest opera and then doing the banner bomb hack. the only thing I had to do then was use the trucha bug restorer inorder for the wadmanager to load stuff correctly. There are lots of tutorials on hacking 4.1 I had no problem getting it set up

    It's safe.
Nintendo' most inspired core game titles are stuck overseas. Nintendo Of America sux when it comes to the localization of these game titles as they court with their new found casual gamer/soccer mom audience this console generation. Thus indirectly promoting the growth of Homebrewing & basically telling their core audience if they want it, mod chip or Homebrew it. Thanks Nintendo! My Wii and its functionalities have never felt more complete than when I took my first sip of the Brew. - Brewaholic

So does it update the firmware or just the channel?

From what I've read its just a new layout for the channel to make it more user friendly.

Yeah, it's just the Japanese Nintendo Channel update they got alongside the release of 4.1J . I think it was you and we were recently talking about the size of this Channel and a better looking layout . The size has been reduced and the save data has been reduced as well after it updates. If the save data doesn't immediately show the new size hit reset or turn the power off and back on.

You might just need to also install the patched IOS61.wad. The Shop Channel needs IOS61 to work-if your Wii is modded, then use patched IOS61.
