A few screws missing....my wii is dead :(

Hi Guys,

I have a Wii with a WiiKey installed.

I have had my wii for a couple of years and its worked fine.

The other day I was playing wii sports resort and it worked fine, the next day I turned on my wii and it would no longer read burned games, it will load original games but freezes once I get past the menu screen of the original wii sports and links cross bow training.

I picked up my wii and could hear something rallting inside! :S

I took apart the wii and 1 tri screw fell out from somewhere and another one was lodged in the DVD drive, I can't seem to see where they belong. I put it back together but the same problem exists, VC games still play fine.

I was wondering if people could suggest some options?

I can either

1) Sell the fight stick, controllers etc and ut my losses,
2) send it to a repairer?
3) See if Nintendo will just sell me a console( I have everything else).

Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks rawsarrow,

Well the graphics card was already dying on it aswell ( I was getting graphical artfacts on the screen in some games), So its probably not worth the moeny to replace the drive, I might just have a firesale for all my spare parts.

cheers.

Hi,

Thanks for that, thats the odd thing, I couldn't find where the screws are supposed to go :s.

I have a mate who's modded over a dozen of these things I'll ask him to assist.

cheers.

sorry, but does anyone know where I could find a guide to taking the drive, not just the wii, apart? I've had a look but so far no luck...

cheers.

Thanks mate, much appreciated.

I had found that link earlier, it talks about moving the white plastic parts to try to free up the drive if its locked up. Anyway, I unclicked the ribbon cable and the plastic lock bit snapped off ... its just not my day...

I think its time to bury the wii...
