When I used my problematic LaCie 1TB with USB Loader GX I had the 30 seconds count down and then pop up window asking if I want load the usb drive using cISO222 or cISO249... which neither selection works ... so the only way to get around this problem for me was to use another drive which was WD ...

Also you must format the harddrive into FAT32 (not exFAT, not NTSF or anything else) first before WBFS it... also try to install cISO249 on the Wii before you load USB Loader GX... oh you also can only use the port closest to the edge of the wii to plug in the harddrive, because wii will not detect any harddrive if you use the other usb port which is further away from the edge of the wii

I hope the above works for you

    Yeap, both little buggers!

I noticed on the GBATemp.net usb drives known to work that the WD 250GB passport works. I just surprised that the 120GB doesn't.

Unless I'm doing something wrong or haven't installed something..

...well what about the FAT32 format?? are you sure you had formatted it to FAT32 first? Coz I know if you use Vista you cannot format it to FAT32 without using an external utility program to format it...

Yes, I formatted it with the WD format tool called WD FAT32 Formatter, the only way to format the entire 111GB to FAT32.

I don't get the popup, it simply returns to the main menu.

well then it seems I must ask you if you have:

    1. cISO 249?
    2. rev 14 (this is the latest one)?
    3. did you update USB Loader GX to the latest version?

and I forgot to say... when you format the drive into FAT32, you MUST NOT do quick format, you must do FULL FORMAT... i hope your utility has this option and i hope you did format it fully ... plus NO partitions... just 1 whole drive fully formatted to FAT32...

    1. cISO 249?
I assume so, but how would I check?

    2. rev14 (this is the latest one)?
Do I actually need this to get it working?

    3. did you update USB Loader GX to the latest version?
I simply downloaded the latest version, as I didn't have anything previously (just started to look into the whole usb loader side of things.)

    1. You just need to download cISO249 and install it to make very sure, you must have 249 for it to work

    2. rev 14 is a YES but not a MUST... because rev 14 fixes a lot of bugs in USB Loader GX... like the grey screen reloading bug ... i.e. with rev 14 you don't need to restart the whole wii to change between games using USB Loader GX... hence i guess it also makes running the Loader in general smoother

    3. When you load USB Loader GX... go to the menu button at the bottom (it is in the form of a small icon of wheels...) and then press next page to select "update" and then just update the whole Loader to the latest version by selecting "updating all" via wifi internet

    4. You also MUST NOT QUICK FORMAT harddrive to FAT32... as i said before only full format will work... i hope you did fully format it

i really hope this works for you now... i understand how painful it can get when the harddrive cannot be detected

I'll give this a try later, when I get home.

Well, I managed to fix my problem, thanks to the support from you all on here.

Didn't need to format the drive (Do a full FAT32 format).
Needed to run the cIOS38_rev14 Installer, and let it do its thing (network Install)
Installed usb drive small 8gb test drive and USB Loader gx, detected it and complained about the format, so formatted it to WBFS, copied some games from my WD120GB drive via WBFS Inteligent GUI and it worked straight away, so unplugged the small usb and inserted the WB drive and yeap works like a dream.

Thanks for all your help everyone, I'm one happy bunny!
