Wii totaly screwed after running update from Wii Sports Resort

    Hi,

I need a bit of help restoring my Wii... I recently downloaded the PAL edition of Wii Sports Resort onto the HDD of my modded(Argon chip) Wii. Nothing wrong so far but after trying to run it, it produced a 002 error... So I first downgraded the IOS and menu with the CIOS downgrader 1.0 program by Waninkoko to version 3.2E, still nothing to it... all still worked but the game again produced the 002 error.

So I burned the game to disc and inserted it into the Wii... the Disc Channel claimed it needed to perform a firmware update. So I did.... stupid me...

After the update I restarted the Wii, just to find that the Wii wouldn't start anymore.
The only thing that it does is:
    1. Start(power on) via the controller and via the power button.
    2. Then very shortly (less then .5 seconds) it sends out the video signal.

And then it freezes.... not reacting on anything, the controller cannot connect to the Wii anymore and no picture whatsoever.

    Any thoughts?

    Regards,

    Hijglander

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you may have just low level bricked your Wii.

Saw this post by Dogeggs yesterday which explains.

Did you install bootmii as boot2?

No unfortunatly I didnīt install bootmii...
So this means I cannot revive the Wii with the tutorial mentioned by Cressida?

    Edit 18:07:
Oke, so I tried the fix Cressida mentioned.... but with the GC controller I cannot get the Wii to boot to the part where it should produce at least something on screen.. So it appears to be not fixable. In the tutorial there is a mention of a slightly modified GC controller, but no modification tutorial is given... somerhing I missed maybe?

Any other suggestions are highly appreciated?

P.S. I already bought a new Wii so this one is for testing purposes and cannot be more broken then it is now.

    Hi,

I too landed into the similar kind of issue, after downloading and burning a PAL version of Wii Sports Resort when I started to play the game it asked me to update the software for which I pressed yes......[regretting now ]

Anyways I was not able to play the game but when I tried connecting to internet I was unable to access Wii settings menu instead showed me some opera error :Unable to access marc:FIX/US/ENG/index01.html".

It seems like its bricked how do get rid of this, I am able to play other games.

    vac79,

Your brick issue is not as serious as the OP.

From your description your brick falls into the semi-brick category.

There are several ways to recover from this and here's one http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...lkthrough.html

Don't take this as the only solution, just putting semi-brick in search presents quite a few.

so what can we do to avoid this? I am getting this 002 error but I have not update it, for fear of something like this happening to me. I am running 3.2u with a ntsc version of the game.
