I recently bricked my wii and was wondering if i should send it in to nintendo. It's banner bricked and my warranty is gone so they are saying it will cost $60 (plus shipping and tax). I was wondering if i should do this or just buy a new one.

Do you have preloader installed
i did but it didnt stay installed. ive already tried fixing it and i cant
or you can get a mod chip and unbrick it with this guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...ner-brick.html
I herd u can unbrick Your wii with the WasabiDx* AUTOBOOTING*. You can try that. You can find it in the modchip depot.
Sending it in would be cheaper than a whole new purchase or buying one used and you get a brand new warranty. Unless you could just find a console by itself and purchase it alone. Either route you choose Nintendo or modchip it would still be cheaper than a new purchase.
Out of warranty $75.00 for the repair. You pay for your own shipping and insurance. Insurance is optional, but nice to have.
But a Mod-chip is 1. CHEAPER 2. You get a hybrid (soft and hard mod) 3. even if some how it WONT work (which it should unless your on 4.1) then if you do send it in and they wipe your hacks (or send you a new wii) you can just put in the mod-chip. So really the odds are with you with a mod chip. just my .02
If Nintendo detect anything in the NAND that caused the problem, that price will rise considerably. Do a search and see what other people have been quoted when Nintendo have detected anything.
1. The modchip option would be the recommended way to go, if you get one with clips you could always sell it again after you unbrick your unit. But why would you?
