That is called Fraud and if the store check the serial number against the box, you may find yourself talking to the Judge.

Wii Hacks does not condone or recommend this.

Dude. *You* buy a brand new Wii and take it home. You keep the receipt. You take the new Wii out of the box and put your broken Wii back in the box. You go back to Walmart and get a refund. Simple. They aren't gonna check the serial number and if you pay with cash there is no way for them to track you anyway. If you are that worried, remove the serial number from your new Wii and put it on the old Wii. Don't act like this is some kind of ethics issue when we are hacking our Wiis to play backup games anyway.

I have done it. It does work. Works on games too after you copy them, especially if you have a shrinkwrap machine.

As for tristan, there's no reason to get nasty or defensive. I didn't say you were required to do this. Starman has a problem, I am providing a potential solution. If he doesn't want to do it, fine. It's no water off my back. Anyway, it is spelled "you're" in that tense, so I'd watch who you are calling stupid.

Out of warranty $75.00 for the repair. You pay for your own shipping and insurance. Insurance is optional, but nice to have.

If they take the time to read the nand like they are now supposed to.....then the charge may no longer be $75....it could be like 200.

    so make sure its $75

Not if you do the Walmart swap. Seems to be an awful lot of pushing for modchips on this site. I wonder what their cut is?

Of course, here you are worried about softmods to your bricked Wii. Do you honestly think you'll be in better shape when your Wii breaks after a hardware modification? It's your money.

But again, this is only my opinion.
