I have som last questions before i go out and order a D2pro V4.0 chipped Wii.
The shop im ordering from said they deliver the machine With FW 3.3 or 3.4, but if i want to it can be updated to 4.0 before he sends it, is there a reason for me to select the older FW rather than the newest one?
Also he said it was possible for him to put Homebrew Channel on for me if i wanted it with either 4.0 or the 3.3/3.4 FW for no extra charge, i just had to order a SD card along with it though
Is there any reason to want Homebrew channel along with it?, or does this channel only acts as a launcher for other programs you might modify it with like VC/EMulators? Would i have any use for it now/later on a hardmodded Wii?
Should i just let it be shipped without HC? does this program cause alot of bricks? if it does id rather be without and just buy my VC/Wiiware games
Thanks for the help, i would like to order it before sunday, i cant take it watching Galaxy/Twilight videos on youtub anymore

It depends what you want to do with it. Older versions are easier to use homebrew with, for the most part anyway.
I'd probably have HBC installed, saves you doing it and just for the sake of a cost of a SD card.
HBC does not cause bricks. You'll find that most, if not all of bricks are caused by doing something which you shouldn't.
HBC will allow you to open a whole world of applications that Nintendo otherwise won't let you use. Examples are Media Players, DVD player, USB Hard Drive loaders (store games on HDD), Backup Launchers, Wiiware and VC, Emulators etc...
I have a hardmodded Wii and I use the softmod more than the hardmod, but the hardmod does give me more flexibility.

ordering a hard mod is a waste if you have some type of intelligence. only a complete DUMMY cannot soft mod, and yes you take that offensively because its really that easy to go from virgin wii to backup playing wii. im not shooting down mod chips, if you want it to be a perfect experience, go right ahead, i kinda want a drive key. but dude you could save some money if you just buy a virgin wii and softmod. im assuming of course they are charging a premium for modding your wii, (which unless you actually open the wii, it could be Softmii or cIOSCORP and you would never know about it!) and if so you are trading money for time you could spend reading about this topic. didnt mean to rant, but softmod is just wonderful. you should get HBC, it can't hurt to have it, but also its REALLY easy to install it even if you don't, I'd go with sysmenu 4.0 SD channel is great and all homebrew still works fine, never had a problem here. regardless of what menu you are on you should install preloader 0.29

Thanks for replying, but the problem with softmod in my case is that if i end up screwing something up i wont be able to get help to it since i dont have any friends that have a a Wii and there isnt any local places in my country where i can go and get it unbricked for example, im not sure but are you guys solving the problems on your own or do you have some local vendors or people here on this site that are from the same city you can get help from?
I just want it to run Wii and Gamecube games well aalthough i have seen some nice stuff about softmod like coverflow and VC/emulator games i also see even more threads about people doing something wrong with a single file thus bricking their Wii.
But if i buy a normal Wii in a shop where i live and then brick it will i be able to give it back to the shop and say it doesnt work and get a new one? also if i o this in a warranty of 1-2 years wont they get suspicious if i come back with it 2-3 times where it doesnt work?
Thanks for all the help, i have decided that hardmod is the way to go for me, also i will still be able to use homebrew channel on it as it seems, so i can always try this option later on when ive been on the forum for a longer time.
I didnt order today though as theres a wait of 5-7 days for the guy that sells the D2pro chip, im gonna make a call to a other seller tomorrow who only has the Drivekey and Wiikey2 for sale and ask him about those chips a bit and then i will decide which one of them to get
The Drivekey apparently doesnt have audiofix for Gamecube games which i mainly want to play along with the Wii games, i havent found anything about if this is a fixable issue though through later firmware or by adding files. But it seems to be out of the question and im deciding more on wheteher its going to be a Wiikey or D2pro but both seems to not have that much of a difference , i will hopefully decide on which one in the next coup days.
Also its probably the best with a hardmod as i already have a PSP with Custom Firmware and looking for fixes/addons for both with time would probably mean i would never be able to get time to even play the systems :P
