softmod is incompatible with like 5 or 6 games out of 579 i've personally tested. yeah some newer games have complications, but they get worked out. ghostbusters is a rare example, besides that everything works fine. @ChaosHydrA, you run very little risk of hurting your wii. 3 simple steps to install backup launching:
1...install HBC
2...install cios
3...install neogamma r6
takes literally 10 mins, most of it due to processing time. that is all you need to launch wii backups, gamecube will be another couple steps:
1...patch mios with included installer
2...launch GC backups including multigame discs as in as many gc titles you can fit on disc!
now gc loading is very buggy so i can understand that aspect, but i think a hard mod is a waste. if you got the money to buy premodded go for it, but if you are inexperienced opening the wii and installing the chip you actually are creating a higher risk of ruining your wii. these people that complain about games not working are doing something stupid that they shouldn't be doing. bricking only occurs when you don't know what you are doing or doing something completely ridiculous

Softmod = Emulation. Always running in the back ground and taking up system resouces.

Hardmod runs off the hardware and does not take up system resources.
there for your system will run as it was built to run.

softmod is DEFINITELY not emulation. emulation is when a guest os/console/program is running on a host and is pretending to be something else. a softmod is when a custom version of firmware/software/etc is used. softmod still takes up more memory than hardmod, but not too much that its unbearable.

there goes a rule that says (for emulation) "the host system must generally be at least 10x as powerful as the guest system to run smoothly." and the wii is not emulating itself, and nor does it have the power to.
