when you load up gecko OS in options it will say something like force NTSC and switch that to yes and you can play the game but if it is a back up then you can't play it threw gecko OS you would have 2 play it gamma which requires customs ios's and stuff... i personally just load the games off an external HDD because it dosn't matter what region it is .

    This time i made sure....

    @Jonathanb9595

Can you confirm that if you are playing games from USB HDD (i.e. via Configurable USB Loader or similar) then the region is disregarded? Even if the ISO is an NTSC iso?

Go to your loader's options. Then select force region. That should work.

Sorry for bump, I felt it was more appropriate to make a new thread,

okay here's the scenario, and I hope this is not hijacking, seem to be on topic.

I was asked to softmod a wii (black wii aussie 4.2e), minor bumps, but now I'm set with hddloaders and all the good stuff, I have neogamma for backups)

though, after searching, I found out that these blasted back wii's will never play disk backups ref: http://www.wiihacks.com/wiihacks-new...os-help-2.html
due to the d3-2 drives on-board.

loading off from hdd/usb is fine, original games (pal) on disk channel and neogamma loads fine,
my friend sees that it is currently not an option to load from hdd (and prefers original), thing is here in PH, we mostly have NTSC games on sale. (so she will most likely be buying NTSC games)
I know if ever she do opts to use the hdd, it would be fine, but for the time being,
my question is, will original NTSC games work this newly softmodded wii? cos I hate to bring this back to her and find out I missed a few settings to make it work.
will the NTSC game load on neogamma? (cos I'm sure it won't from the disk channel)

this is my 3rd wii softmod, first one was mine (3.2u /yea bootmii@boot2 goodness!), 2nd was a KOR converted (4.2u), and now this, first PAL system I touched, I was afraid at first that it might be 4.3e (not avail PAL games for the 4.3 exploits here in PH)

    Thanks in advance!

    you have a few options.
    1) softmod using mauifrogs guide and use the nstc-u mod pack to change the wiis region.
    http://www.wiihacks.com/homebrew/609...d-any-wii.html

2)any region changer- following this guide
    http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...o-jap-kor.html

    3)hdd - and force video/region from loader/forwarder.

    4)gecko as suggested above
    http://www.wiihacks.com/tutorial-arc...-os-1-07b.html

and there are a few others but I think you will find one of these options helpful.

Did I come off like a jerk?? Read more here

    Thanks for the help sir,
changing the region was an option earlier when I was in the course of softmodding it
but I remembered, she still has her PAL games to play,

so region change is not an option at the moment,
hdd I think from my experience should be fine (since I have done it with my hddmod)

so, just Gecko? no neogamma? cos I saw the force vids options on it, but can't test, my personal wii and ntsc games are on a different house lol.

    Thanks for the help
