Question PAL Games on NTSC Wii - Bad?

    Hi All,

I'm not sure if this is the best category to post this in, but I couldn't find something more specific.

I just had my Wii moded with the DriveKey, it's working great, I even downloaded an NTSC version of a game and it plays fine.

As most probably know, and I just found out, NTSC games for download on torrent sites are hard to come by. But PAL games are all over the place.

    Here is my question ...

Is it bad to play PAL games on an NTSC Wii and TV?
Will it damage the TV or Wii in the long term?
Is the quality video/audio of the game worse when playing PAL versions on an NTSC TV?

I totally understand that PAL updates will 'brick' my Wii, so I've turned updates off. But as I understand it, the mod will allow me to play PAL imports.

Basically, I wanted to make sure it was worth downloading a PAL game before wasting all that bandwidth.

    Thanks in advance.

Dont worry, it wont do any harm to your Wii or TV. You should be able to play the games fine, you may have to use GeckOS or something. I cant say for sure as my Wii is soft modded.
I can play both NTSC and Jap region on my PAL Wii using backup gamma 3.0g.

I will answer everyones questions here. First off, I agree that no it wont hurt your modchipped wii by using a pal game on ntsc, but just make sure you never do an out of region disc update or it will brick the wii. You can find tons of NTSC-U scrubbed games and they work just as good. PM me if you want those sites. Now dealing with softmodded wiis....... When you download a pal game (to use on a ntsc-u console), use regionfrii to change the region. Use wiibrickblocker to block the update (reguardless if the game actually has an update) and then you must still force ntsc or else it wont work properly. It wont brick your wii if you forget to force ntsc but try it and youll see how the audio/video looks.

pal games don't work for me, so i try to stick to ntsc games... what i meant by not being able to add players... i guess i didn't know the proper way of connecting another controller when playing a muti-player game, but now its all good... i found out how to...
