Help Setting Up My Toshiba Stor.e HDD To Play Games.

    Hi

I've not softmodded a wii for years but my girlfriends little sister wanted hers doing so followed Guides Bot guide step by step.

I did try and run games via neogamma with games burnt to disc but later found out because its a black wii the drive is too new to run disc backups.

I have a Toshiba Stor.e 500GB HDD laying around doing nothing so want to use that (I read up on a few things before hand and know some others are using it too so it's compatible).

When putting my iso files to my hard drive and plugging it in the wii and opening up USB Loader GX it says device isn't found.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I formatted the HDD to exfat via windows is that wrong/correct?

Like I said I'm bit rusty when it comes to softmodding because it's been 4 years since I last did one.

The console is running 4.2E if that helps.

Any advice would be really appreciated!

    Thanks.

Don't use exfat, use FAT32. NTFS is also acceptable, but FAT32 is more recommended.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

It was already NTFS I think and the only 2 options it gave me on windows 7 was NTFS and ExFat.

Use EASUS partition wizard to make it FAT32

Just followed that guide, thanks man all working now!

I also figured it needed to be plugged in the bottom USB port...doh!

Any idea how I can get covers uploaded? She's only 6 so will be a bit confusing for her choosing what games she wants to play without the covers.

    Thanks again.

For USB Loader GX, press 1 then choose which covers you want to download

There's also a way to kid-proof the Wii (very handy for youngsters --- or rather, their parents) so that kids have less a chance to mess up your Wii. While the versions mentioned are dated, the technique itself is tried and true. You may want to look here for further interest.
