    Network Hard Drive Compatibility?

I plan to buy a new hard disk for use with my Wii and PC. Although there are lot of compatible USB drives mentioned in this forum but I have not seen any comments on network drives.

I would like to know if it is possible to use network hard disk drives such as the ones mentioned below for playing back ups:

FreeAgent GoFlex Home 2TB (Model STAM2000200)
My Book Live 2 TB Hard Drive (Model WDBACG0020HCH)

Is there any separate guide which should be followed to format the network hard disk and make it compatible with Wii for playing and backing up games?

since you keep mentioning that it is a network hard drive. do you intend to connect the hard drive to the wii or were you trying to find out if you can get the wii to access the hard drive over a network?

No, not to my knowledge, u cannot stream games over wifi to play. U can transfer stuff and stream movies this way but not play backups.

    Thanks for your reply.

Hopefully in future, some one will come out with an app to use the full potential of the current network drives and stream games for Wii.

I don't think it will happen any time soon, if ever. Streaming games over wifi would prove to be challeging. The network would need to be stable and fast enough, so a good reception would be needed. You'd also need to compensate for things like packet loss, latency and jitter.
Awesome sig picture does not work
