Confused about PAL and NTSC. Are they safe to swap?

    Hello

I have a softmod 4.2E box from using the ModMii instructions.

I understand that my Wii is PAL and as such all the games that I've bought are for a PAL Wii and TV.

However , hypothetically, if somebody was to download a scrubbed game which was NTSC, would it damage the Wii or the hard drive that it was stored on and connected to the Wii?

    Cheers

absolutely not, it wouldn't damage anything. it would work like a pal game would because the back up launcher you use will allow your wii to bypass the region setting. however if you would like you can use wii region patcher to change the ntsc game to pal. but that would only make a difference if you had a game like call of duty or guitar hero type games that have downloadable patches or dlc.

    Thanks for the helpful reply.

So, I don't have to change an NTSC to PAL unless I want to download a patch?

    Cheers

    Anytime,

Nope. I've got many PAL, NTSC and a few NTSC-J games on USB HDD and they all work perfectly fine and have done for many years. So you have nothing to worry about.
