Can i use a plain USB WiFi adapter to PC to connect my Wii?

Hi, trying to finish this softmod stuff and now i need to connect. I was searching around ebay and they have Wired Lan adapters and Wireless USB adapters. My question is can i just buy a plain old USB Wifi adapter to plug into my PC to connect to my Wii?

Your Wii has built in wireless-g networking capabilities.

Do you not have wireless internet?

instructions don't say jack. I bought a Wii lan adapter off Ebay for $14.12 shipped! Good deal considering the local Game Crazy wanted $29.99. And yea, it works for the DS as well.

OH. You're talking about this ...

Any adapter will do. It doesn't have to be the Nintendo brand. You have to find a device that will turn your machine into a hotspot though. A normal, wireless USB adapter won't do this.

those things overheat FAST >_> i left mine on for like 2 hours and it was really hot. If anything, just by a wireless modem, its about $30, just about the same price of a Nintendo WiFI USB
