Angry Twilight hack does not work!

    Dear all,

    I've got a weird problem here. I have a wii thats running firmware 3.3U and a d2pro9 (firmware 1.7).

I tried to install the homebrew channel but it won't work and this is what happens:

I use a copied version of Zelda which works fine, I've played and made a save, then d/l the twilight hack from the homebrew channel website and successfully copied the beta1 version over to the wii.
I then d/l the homebrew channel "boot.dol" version 1.01 from the same website and put it in the root of my sd card (32mb canon).

I then start Zelda again, and load the twilight hack save and sure enough it goes to the hack screen of white text on black background.
BUT: It says on screen a bunch of text and then:

    ------------------------------
    Reading boot.dol
    start cluster: 0002
    start cluster: 007a
    start cluster: 013f
    start cluster: 0399

    Found boot.dol!
    boot.dol not found! (-1) reading boot.elf:

    start cluster: 0002
    start cluster: 007a
    start cluster: 013f
    start cluster: 0399

    Failed to read boot.elf
    No code found to load.

    -----------------------------
I have tried homebrew boot.dol version beta 8/beta9, 1.01, twilight hacks beta1 and beta2, everytime the same problem.

my sd card had "apps" folder, "private" folder and boot.dol is in root of sd card (with either "apps" empty or loaded with other brew like starfall which shouldn't matter cause it only reads the root boot.dol!!!!).

it can't be the sd card cause the whole twilight hack copying has worked. I don't understand why its saying found boot.dol and then boot.dol not found!!!!!!!

    PLEASE HEEEEELLLLLPPPP!!!!!

Thanks admiral but thats where I got my info in the first place. I have followed the tutorial (I'm still at the first step!!!), copied the right twilight hack and got to the black and white hack screen without problem but for some reason the hack doesn't read the boot.dol correctly.

I've used the official twilight hack and .dol from the homebrew channel website and even downloaded the entire EOC.zip and copied it to my sd card, but the result is the same everytime.

The boot.dol (homebrew channel ver 1.01) IS in the root and the twilight hack is working correctly (with a copied version of zelda (with d2pro)) but the hack cannot read it properly ->see the error message I wrote in the first post. The SD card has an "apps" folder and also twilight hack folder etc.

It says its found boot.dol, then suddenly that its not found it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The tutorial does not tell me what to do in this case.

i think the (homebrew channel ver 1.01) should be saved as boot.elf in the root of the sd card not boot.dol

    Smile Problem solved!!!!!

Hey guys thanks for all the info, I solved the problem!!!!!

It wasn't any of the software, it was the canon 32mb SD card!!!!!

I switched to an Ocz 2GB SD card and just put boot.dol into the root and BINGO!!! Everything worked.

Seems some SD cards have problems with the Wii and even if some apps work from one SD card doesn't mean all apps will work from that one. Best NOT to use a bundled SD card I guess.

    Thanks again to everyone.

Precisely the same experience here with a Canon 64MB card. I figured the card was pretty old and a bit of a long shot, yet everything appeared to work right up until reading the boot.dol. After finding the file, it began giving errors like:

err=c100003, reply= (various hex codes repeated)

and gave up after a minute. Using a new 2GB card solved it.
