I wanna pull the plug and go back to normal. Will I brick it?

    Alright, alright some background here.
I bought my Wii the day it came out. Installed a WiiKey as soon as they came out. Eventually got tired of updating that and did a Twilight Princess hack. I hadn't played my Wii for a few years, then I updated to be able play SMG2 whenever that came out. That was the last time I updated any IOS or anything. I currently have System Menu 3.2U.

My GF is pestering me to play Just Dance 3, and I'm so out of the loop on this stuff, I can't figure it out anymore. And I have a hankering to play Zelda: A Link to the Past. I started by updating HBC from 1.0.6 to 1.0.8, and now it doesn't work. All it does is reset the Wii. I ran the banner bomb, uninstalled and reinstalled HBC, still no work.

    THE QUESTION
If I were to let the Wii do the System Update that it wants to do, where will I end up? I'd like to be able to use the Shop Channel again. I'm tired of spending days trying to update my hacks when I would much rather throw down a few bucks and do it the regular way.

    Any input greatly appreciated.

    Looking at your tutorial,
for one, i have the HBC installed but it doesn't work. So, I could go ahead to the Nintendo 4.3U update, but that brings about the original question, will I brick the Wii?

You could use bannerbomb. Very simple.

Updating via nintendo is arguably more dangerous than what Maui's put together. Anytime you muck with stuff, you run some risk. Mauis guide has mitigated most of the risk tho.

The answer is, you probably wouldnt brick it, but you're unlikely to get anyone (who knows anything) to answer more definitively.

Softmodding is so much better.... why not just do it?

I've been trying the banner bomb for a few days, but keep ending up with a HBC that won't load- keeps resetting the wii. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and same result. Can't really get anywhere without a functioning HBC, can I?

Use bannerbomb & reinstall ios58 and 61 first. (beginning part of the anywii guide).
