    Semi bricked wii at 4.3

Hi, i think i am very much stuck at this stage, after spending over 10 hours browsing almost all the contents

Basically i recently got an old wii from a friend of mine, who had it at 3.x J (Japanese wii)

However i was playing some game that i am not even sure about whether its E or U (its in english) and then it kinda upgraded my wii to 4.3
And guess what??!! Semi-bricked wii, no settings menu...

The link its trying to access with opera error is asking for JP/JPN/index01.html (which leads me to believe somehow the wii is 4.3J), and i have no way of telling

Some website claims there is a sticker on the wii that will give you the mac address (it does not exist, and all the sticker are like new....) and obviously the other way is to use the settings (Semi-bricked, duh)
Was thinking this way i can use letter bomb

    So my question is
    1. How can i be sure which region my wii is now?
    2. I cant even launch things like weather news (because since the wii arrived, i never used wii connect 24), so is there a way to find its mac address for letterbomb?
    3. Anyway i can hard reset my wii to factory setting?
    4. Is the last resort renting smash bro (can i download the .iso and burn it on a disc).
    5. Following from 4, I am in Europe, so i dont think i can get the Japan version, will the european version work???

P.S I dont have anything install on there, not even HBC (is there anyway to still install it??)

Thanks so much to anyone that can shed some light.

Okay. If you have a gamecube controller, you can try the SaveMiiFrii method (which probably wont help much, but would give you system menu version.

If your wii is or was at one point attached to wireless, you might be able to get the MAC address from your router. If not, if you can launch games, you should be able to launch the hackmii installer using a game exploit. If you can launch MMM using any of these techniques, your questions will be answered.

Just for giggles, was bootmii ever installed? (does the blinky blue light blink 1x or 2x on start?)

    Hi there and thanks

I can launch some games but i can't launch others, its a 50/50 thing...
By the disc exploit, i would imagine something like smash bro? Can I just download the .iso online and burn it to "fix" it???

The blue light blinks one time when i start my wii (the one that has the disc in)

Smash Stack is a disc exploit, but there are others. A nice list can be found here. No you can not download the game. First of all, that's illegal. Second of all, it just won't work. You can rent a game pretty cheap. You could also borrow one from a friend. Your local library may even have one (or more) of the exploitable games (I know mine does).

EDIT: You'll still need to know the region of your Wii. Opening up the recovery menu will tell you what it is.

Are you sure you're on 4.3J? Because you will need the game from the correct region of your system menu.

yes i am 100% sure... and i wish i read your post before renting the europe version.....

    Oh well

Another question, if i buy a USB > Lan adapter, and plug it in so it can "connect" to the internet, will I be able to somehow get the mac address (for letterbomb) without the use of settings (Semi-bricked)

    Thanks everyone so much

You might as well try it with the PAL version of the game since you have it. It probably won't work (the weird region issue your having might make it work though). And I don't know if that will allow you to get the MAC or not.
