was 4.3u, did "Softmod ANY Wii", games ok on exthd, but now no bootmii & back to 4.1?

I was on 4.3U and followed the "Softmod ANY Wii" guide to the letter, except I didn't do the IOS update section because it said it wasn't necessary because I was already on 4.3.

I also followed the guide to get an ext hard drive working and was able to backup a couple of my games to the drive and play them without a problem (using WBFS).

Just realized now that I'm on 4.1 rather than 4.3U. Does this matter? Just for the heck of it, I wanted to update to 4.3.....I know, probably not gaining anything from doing this, right?

I had the right files on my SD, booted HB, ran BootMii and got an exception error something something with a slew of letters and numbers on a black screen. I checked my card and for some reason MultiModManager wasn't there. I copied that app onto the SD and next time I went into HB, the app was there and I can launch it (but still couldn't get to MMM from selecting home, then BootMii from HB).

Either way...I can't even see the IO Update wads that I copied into the WAD folder and there's no option for "IOS-Update" from MMM either.

Is it necessary to fix this? Or should I leave well enough alone, since everything else is working?

Not sure how this stopped working. When I first did the mod, everything was working...only thing different I did was set up the ext hard drive.

    Thanks!

You don't want to update your menu, part of the soft process was to go back to menu 4.1 the menu of choice. You should look at the guide for ext hard drive in fat 32 found here

    thanks for the reply...

just confused about something....if i am able to play games on the ext hd currently, do i need to follow that guide still?

would that solve my missing bootmii problem?

i have about a dozen backups on the hdd now and didnt want to erase and/or mess with that if not necessary...

If you followed the guide to the letter then you should have bootmii backed up to your pc. You have to put the bootmii file back into your apps folder on your sd card and the hard drive format is your choice WBFS is old and FAT32 is the new more compatiable way to go. You can do it now while your just starting out or wait and probably have to do it later sometime down the road.

Why do you want bootmii back on your sd card?

you had written to put bootmii back on my sd card in your prior post...

is it not required then, once the softmod is completed?

no its not.. and the guide you followed downgrades you SM to 4.1 which is preferred any how. 4.2 and 4.3 were designed to kill HBC and softmods. some anti piracy BS.

If everything works leave it alone...

Did I come off like a jerk?? Read more here

Sorry to confuse, I thought you wanted bootmii for some reason. As Shift_Lock said no you don't need it on your card.
