Error regarding GC backups with Neogamma R9 b55 (03023A00)

Here's some background info:

When I first burnt my backups, they were working perfectly with Neogamma. These are the same discs from before. Then I stopped playing my Wii for a while. I recently tried to run Neogamma with the same discs again, and they wouldn't work because I got the "03023A00 DVD+R/bad burn/DL problem?" error. It's not a DVD+R, and like I said, these are the same discs.

The only thing that's changed is I installed a different cIOS to get my backup of Kirby's Return to Dreamland to run with USB Loader GX, and I opened up my Wii because it was making this awful buzzing noise when the disk drive was running. So I ordered a tri-wing screwdriver, and I tried to fix it using a bunch of different methods. I eventually just gave up on it. But I'm afraid that I might have damaged the laser when I was working it. I'm a little skeptical that this is the problem, because my retail SSBB disc and Kirby's Air Ride disc work fine on the disc channel.

I have the latest version of Neogamma (R9 b55)

What should I do?

Well, you said the problem first arose when you installed a different cIOS. In that case, I would try installing the older cIOS to see if that's where the problem lies. It might be that Neogamma doesn't support d2x. I don't know though, I don't use Neogamma.

I tried cIOSx rev20b with IOS 56 as a base. It didn't work. I think that it's either my Wii's disc drive, or my discs somehow got worse after burning them. They're TDK DVD-Rs, if anyone has had this problem before. I'll try re-burning a game on the slowest speed to test it.

Tdk isn't the best media to burn Wii games with. Verbatim dvd -r's are recommended.

With that being said, if these discs worked before and you have followed the softmod any Wii guide, I would put my money on the lens going bad or the disc drive motor is dying. Do the discs spin when u put them in?

It does spin for a while and cuts off when it can't read them. But now that you mention it, my Wii has been acting up while reading games. For instance, if I try to use Riivolution or the disc channel, it will say there's no disc inserted, or that there was an error while reading it. I try to avoid using the diskdrive as much as possible. I'm just going to get a modchip. Getting a new disc drive would eventually create the same problem eventually.
