Stuck! Need some help please... CFG and Homebrew can't find HDD

    Hi Everyone.
This is the second Wii 4.3 I've modded with Mauifrog's wonderful guide and the first worked with no problem right off the bat. This one seemed to be going fine until I finished and hooked up the HDD(FAT32) and started the loader and it just hung on the CFG screen. Everything else works and was even able to get the WiiMC to play movies off of the HDD but it seems like the Loaders wont recognize the HDD. Not only have I tried the loader in the channels section but I tried the Wiiflow in Homebrew and nothing. So next I tried to cheat and install the loader on the HDD instead of the SD and Homebrew lets me select the HDD but the app doesn't show up. So I tried the HDD from the first modded Wii and it worked fine for the CFG in the channels. I'm sure I am just overlooking something small and stupid but I've scoured the forum and can't figure out what solution to look for... Help Please.

Sounds like you haven't put the apps in the apps folder. If it is working with your other drive, simply drag and drop the apps folder to the new drive.

Thanks playerkp420 Your suggestion was the solution to the problem as to why Homebrew wouldn't find the apps on my HDD but the problem persists with the fact that the loaders won't find my HDD. Any further help is much appreciated.

There should be another folder on the root of your drive. Like WiiFlow has a folder in the apps folder and another folder with config file and covers, etc. on the root.

Would the Working Wii's HDD work on the new Wii's CFG loader if that was the case? That is what I thought originally and also was hoping so because if it is the cios thing it seems kind of intimidating. so I tried the MMM install method as well as the showmewad method and that is where i got stuck. the .dol files are on the SD for sure.

Don't know but maybe a rundown will help. The only difference between this mod and the first one I did a year ago is the guide has been remodeled and whatever differences that may entail. Also the HDD is a 500gb Canvio+ 3.0(labeled working on USB compatibility list) as opposed to the old Wii's HDD is a WD Elements 250gb. Other than that everything is the same... SD cards, Indiana pwns and 4.3 Wii black.

Just checked to see if the CFG loader was set to load from the SD instead of the HDD but that was not the case. So I found a thread somewhat related to what I am experiencing so I am going to post a syscheck in the morning, study the thread and some cIOS stuff and attempt a fix with a clear head and a cup of coffee. Thanks again for the help and quick responses... I love this site!

Another thing you may want to look at is how the drive is partitioned/formatted. Is there only one partition on your drive? Is it set to primary and active? I saw a similar issue a few weeks ago where the problem was in the settings of the loader and where it was looking for the game partition. Might be worth taking a look at.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone. The solution was the improperly formatted HDD (not set as primary) and to boot the HDD was full of games I just synced... Noob mistake! Thanks again
