New member with questions about softmod (Mainly WiiFlow Channel).

New here, and have a few questions about modding this thing. Not new to forums by no means (follow them on modding my truck / atv / etc...), but new to these Wii's. I have a PS3 that I like, but bought this Wii for my daughter to play. After looking around on the internet and into soft modding it, I began to become very interested in this thing. First off, I have watched about a days worth of videos on youtube about softmodding this and am starting to understand a little here and there, so try and hang in there with me as I ask some of these (probably very dumb to most of you) questions.

I have successfully installed the homebrew channel and a Nintendo emulator. I have found the rom games to download, and everything is fine. Now to move on to something else I want to do with it, play games from a USB drive. I have not messed with any bootmii, boot2, wad files (these are things some of the videos I watched mentioned). I've looked around, and the WiiFlow looks incredible as a USB Loader. I am just confused on some stuff. Videos on youtube seem to be all over the place on this, and I guess what is throwing me off is that I bought this Wii used, and a lot of the video's are from a couple of years ago, so I don't really know if they are outdated or what. All I really want to do is install the WiiFlow Program and Channel. Where I'm getting confused is all of the .wad installations stuff, and IOS 236 or IOS 249. This is where I'm getting stuck at. A lot of the videos show people loading IOS 236 in their files, then some are IOS 249. What is the difference, and what do I have? I just want to know the exact steps, or someone please point me to a video that tells me step-by-step on how to install this channel, and what to download to the SD card my files are on. Can anyone help out with this?

I am on the 4.3(U) version as well.

Thanks, I'll look at it when I get home. Also, I did find some videos on YouTube that explained it a little better, but it says that step 2 (before installing wiiflow) I need something called PriiLoader? I've seen that it some videos, but not all. So is that necessary? It also says that I need a gamecube controller? I'm just wondering if I need that PriiLoader, or if I cacan skip that step?

NscHiNdLeR. Hi and welcome first thing is you have now after watching all the misguides on You tube. Found the best modding site. Look in my sig at Mod any wii, Follow it right through. And Yes you do want priloader. Unless you poop you will be able to mod without a gamecube controller. read lots on this site as this is where you WILL get the best support and advice. Have a quick browse over the site rules as this is not the place to discuss downloaded games.

Ok, I've ready through it and have already ran into a problem. I'm going to use Mauifrog's guide Softmod any wii. I already have the home brew channel installed, and some files on the SD card. Should I reformat the card and start all over, or just start from the step after HBC is installed?

Part 3- Make A NAND Backup (NOT Optional, do this,)

Load HBC, press -HOME-, launch Bootmii
    Make a nand backup
Press Power, Power, Power, Reset, Reset (or use gc-controller)
Power = Right, Eject = Left, Reset = Select
Once the backup is complete, exit bootmii to HBC
Backup your Bootmii files to your PC
    sd:\bootmii
    sd:\nand.bin
    sd:\key.bin
    *DO NOT LOSE THESE FILES*
If you want to load bootmii again at a later date, copy the bootmii folder back to sd:\

Here is where I am already stuck. I go to the HBC and press "home" on my controller. When I click on "Launch Bootmii", the screen goes black and the light around where the disk gets inserted just blinks and it freezes up. I have to go and hold the power button down and restart it. I tried it again, but it does the same thing everytime. I'm just trying to make a back up of the files
