    Ca WiiMC issues

The other day we were rockin' on listening to Christmas tunes streamed via WiiMC. Watched a couple movies via network drive...life was good! Today... company on the way over for some Christmas cheer and I was going to throw on some radio oldies streamed via WiiMC, and it doesn't seem to want to make me happy. When I go to Shoutcast radio and then the genre list and click on one... any one, it tries to load the genre list as a radio station... and then says can't load file. I've deleted the app, defragged my SD card, and reinstalled the app from Homebrew browser. I still get the same thing.

What is up, and more importantly, how can I fix it??

so you are running the channel version?

do you have the non channel version on your sd card? i think maybe its settings cfg file is interefering with the channel one. you should try to remove the entire folder and try again.

The channel version is just a forwarder. But yes, delete all the configuration files and try again.

Also make sure your wii is connected to the network. You might have to reset the router.

I had deleted all WiiMC files on the SD card - and reinstalled. There was nothing related to WiiMC on the SD card as far as I know. I downloaded V1.9 - as I mentioned - on my PC and copied the wiimc dir from my PC HDD to the SD card. Since it didn't ask me if I wanted to overwrite the folder, I knew it wasn't there anymore ( and I defragged the SD card just to clean it up afterwards).

I had installed WIIMC channel at one point, but that stopped working. I deleted the channel... or at least re-installed it after WiiMC was working correctly again the other day. AS it sits now I am only trying to load through HBC 1.0.8. As far as my Wii being on the network, I am streaming with WiiRadio right now, and I've been dowloading with Homebrew Browser so that kinda tells me it's connected. It's a great program when it works.... I really want the access to the shoutcast streams it gets. I even tried putting the address in any other media player I cold put it into by didn't get anywhere with that. If I knew what the URL was for WiiRadio's stream I'd even try that in WiiMC.

Someone else posted the same problem at the WiiMC forum, but there hasn't been a solution there.

Is there somewhere else to look for config files other than in the app/wiimc dir? I am beginning to wonder if something is message up on my Wii's HDD... as far as a config file for WiiMC. That's is really the only thing left that I haven't tried.

The latest version of WiiMC is v1.2.0.

    sd:apps\WiiMc\boot.dol

But it sounds like you have it installed correctly.

Try this download and extract to apps folder.

I had 1.2.0 installed and that's the version I first noticed this. I will try your link just the same. Will let you know how I make out in a bit.

    S~

UPDATE... installed 1.2.0 and genres STILL try to load as an actual stream. I did notice the WiiMC channel is still on my SYSTEM Menu, but I didn't launch it with that.

This is interesting though... I clicked on Youtube and was able to watch a video. Didn't matter what the video was, it played... which didn't happen with the Shoutcast Radio service. Don't know if that is of any help.

(we are still getting occasional stack dumps...Exception DSI occurred) but that may be unrelated and something different.

That is strange. I just tried mine and it's doing the same thing. Everything seems to work except Shoutcast radio. Shoutcast TV, YouTube, and Navi worked though. I even tried older versions but no luck.

Do you know what version you had when it worked? I only tried a few older versions back to v1.1.7. Here is a list of all versions.

Actually 1.2.0 was working mid week last week, possibly as late as yesterday. I had everything set up perfectly. (I even had FTP to my network drive...my wife was quite happy to be able to watch episodes of Fringe, S04... lol). Can't get FTP to work now, but that's a different issue.

I just noticed thogh that I got a message that a config file (settings.xml) could not be created. I don't knnow if this is relevant or not... was trying to set up my FTP again when this happened. As a precaution I copied all the data from the SD card and formatted it. I'll put it all back on and throuw a fresh copy of WiiMC on just to see what happens.
