Can a USB stick be used to dump an image of Wii game

    Hi,

I have a soft mode 4.3e Wii that can play back-up DVD's, so the DVD drive is one of the older ones.

Is it possible to dump an image of a Wii game to a USB stick, take the USB stick across to a PC and burn a back up?

If so, what software is best to dump to USb stick and then to convert to iso and burn?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes it it possible. Do a search for Configurable Usb Loader, USB Loader GX, or Wiiflow. These will all do what you are asking.

Yes. Assuming you want an ISO image, you can use a tool like SuperDump. If you want the game in .wbfs then you can use a USB loader like WiiFlow. Be aware that running games from a backup disk is really slow and USB loading is much better. It's faster (original disks spin at 6x, backups at 3x, and USB HDDs are faster than either), it's lazier (no getting up to change games) and it's more convenient for traveling and stuff like that.

Thanks guys. I was just looking to save a few bucks thats all. Hard drives seem to have become pricier!

Oh so if a buy a usb stick can I also play the dumps straight off that, or is it that not recommended

As long as your usb stick is compatible, then yes. And if you do a bit of searching you can find a compatible USB HDD for around $50 that will hold a heck of a lot more games than a usb stick would.
