Still having lots of issues with my softmodded Wii. Help is appreciated.
I appreciate you taking the time to look at this. Here goes:
I softmodded my Wii a long time ago. It seems like it was probably 1.5 years ago. Perhaps longer.
It was running system firmware 3.2U and had the homebrew channel working just fine. All was well.
I recently purchased the new Zelda: Skyward Sword game and have been trying to update everything to make sure I don't experience any issues.
I kept receiving errors that hackmii would not run because it had a faked ios. I finally resolved that issue and got hackmii to load. I also used
It is now at 4.3u, showing the new homebrew channel and usb loader. Whenever I try to load either the usb loader or homebrew channel, the wii resets.
I have Priiloader on there so I can run the homebrew channel that way. Now it won't even load retail discs.
I've spent about 8 hours on here looking through and trying stuff out, but I am lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Any advice? Thanks!

I would say quit killing yourself looking for all these solutions and just follow the softmod any wii guide in the spoiler below. It will update everthing and get you going. Also post an introduction thread in the introduce yourself section an someone will give you a lot of usefull links.

Thanks. That is what I originally tried to use, but I kept having issues running certain software. The wii would just reset.
I don't know if this matters or not, but the wii is actually 4.3u. I'll update my original post to show this.
In the meantime, I'll continue to start the process over from scratch.
So I followed the Softmod any Wii guide from the beginning. Installed all the wads and everything seemed to work just fine.
It appears as though bootMii won't install, but I'm not sure if that is needed.
The wii firmware says it is at 4.1u.
Anything I load from the wii system menu causes the wii to restart. The only way I can get things to run is from the priiloader.
Even my retail EA Active disc causes the wii to hang. If I try to boot that from the priiloader, I get Warning: TMDSIZE Error.
If I try and load the usb loader this way, it loads, then restarts the wii whenever I try and load a game.
Hi Philip485. Did you redo the whole Mauifrog mod, ie: hackmii installer, HBC, Bootmii. Nand backup. Downgrade to 4.1 (your region) install custom ios. install prefered channels. CFG,GX, usb loaders Neogamma for disc backups, Latest version of preloader.
Then if you are still having problems, post a system check. We can then advise.
When you updated to 4.3u Nintendo will have re stubbed some of your IOS it's to stop modders ha ha! That's what usually causes the trouble.

Retail gamecube and wii discs now load, as well as the wii homebrew channel. I used DOP-Mii to install 4.2u and now things seem to be getting better. Still have an issue loading games from the usb loader though... it sees the game (zelda) plays the music, then goes back to the system menu when it tries to load.
Thanks for the reply. I updated to 4.3 through ModMii which I thought wouldn't cause an issue, but perhaps it has. All is well now, except that the usb loader resets when choosing a game. Bad image possibly?
Homebrew channel loads, cfg usbharddrive loads too. I'm fine with just those.
I can't run bootmii because it said something about my boottype not being compatible, but I can always try again.
Also, i tried running a system check through dop-mii, but it would freeze and say an exception had occurred. Not sure what that is all about.
Thanks for the reply.

Thanks to you two for the help!
Hi Philip485, Not sure if you are aware, Most games will play on IOS with a base. be it 249 250 ........... Cod mw3/Black ops needs 249 250...... So if you are Mauimodded you will have these opyions. You just need to change the game load settings click save and thats it. it will remember for the next time.
Enjoy your wii
Thanks for the reply. I do appreciate the help here. It's been working fine ever since. Hopefully someone else who is unfortunate enough to have this problem will stumble upon this and it will help them out.
Thanks again and take care!
