From what I understand the support for remotes is compiled into the app so the app would have to be updated by the devs of WiiSX or somebody.

Also MPlayer CE would be a blast to have working (dont like having to use the gamecube controller...hehe)

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated!
The code for WiiSX is outdated, it would have to be changed by the developers or someone who understands that sort of thing.

As for MPlayer, WiiMC has taken the throne of best Wii Media Player, so consider looking into that. Otherwise, I will look into MPlayer when I have time.

    - The most accurate way to identify the new controller is by connecting it to a computer.
    • An old Wii-mote Plus will read as an RVL-CNT-01 when connected.
    • The new non-homebrew working one will read as an RVL-CNT-01-TR.

    - Another way is to look at the code in the battery compartment.
    • Look for a code that says LMB-RVL-WR/ (or something very similar) in small lettering.
    • If it's followed by Z-C4, Z-C6, C-C4, or C-C6 it will not work with homebrew.
    • If none of this applies to your controller, then it will work with all types of homebrew.

    - There's currently no way to identify these controllers by looking at the box.
So before I do anything with my wii, I need to ask a question.
I bought my wii off another person. This person had 2 wii's.
Now I see from these instructions that I quoted that my Wii motion plus SHOULD work. Mine show's F-C3 instead of Z-C4 or anything like that.
Now the problem is, the kid who sold me the wii sold it to me with the bundle Super Mario Bros Wii, as well as the soundtrack for the game.
I don't know if this controller came with this wii, or if maybe he switched it out with one of his older controllers for his other wii he mentioned he had.

Now since mine doesn't show any of my code, would it work? Or would it not work even if it doesn't show any of those, but it still came with the bundle? (I'm going off the assumption that this wii-mote came with the bundle as I have no way of contacting the kid I bought it off of).

Apologies, but based off the way that was written, I'm assuming that that code list of incompatible controllers does not include controllers that came with the Super Mario Bros Bundle which you note is incompatible with the soft-mod process.

I also assume that if the controller is incompatible for modding, that once the modding is complete, that the controller still won't work and I'd basically need a new controller until an update comes out?

    Thanks for your time.

The contents of the card folder goes directly on your sd card. You wont need the src folder.

Just want to make EXTRA sure...

    Hi all,
Total newbie here. I've read this whole thread and also googled this remote situation for more info.

First, i did NOT do my own soft mod. I took it to a guy in town, (I did do my own PS2 soft mod a long time ago...lol) meaning I'm still trying to understand the lingo and its short forms. I have the Z-C4 remote that came with the SuperMario bundle. I bought a second controller from Costco and it was also a Z-C4. After going to the guy in town 3 times to softmod my Wii (cuz everytime i got home the remotes didnt work) he finally realized the problem was with the remotes. (of course i was the first one he had ever had this problem with) I ended up buying a 3rd remote from him that works with homebrew. I understand that by updating homebrew and the other seperate programs (usb loadergx etc) that the new remotes wil then work. What I'm not totally clear on is this...

When i go into homebrew and am connected to the internet it tells me that theres an update to homebrew and if i'd like it now...if i do this update does it just install onto my SD card or overwrite the softmod the guy put on my wii? in other words will the Wiiflow channel that has been put on my wii startup screen now work with the new remotes after the update or do i have to always go into homebrew first and load something like wiiflow or usbloader gx from there first making extra steps for the kids to do? Also do i say yes to the Bootmii option it asks about?

Also if it is going to install on the SD card, I only have a 1gig SD card in there now, is that enough to do the update or do i need the 2 gig? Its also telling me i can update the cfg program i have on there should i do that too?

So far the kids only use the Wiiflow program on the startup screen, and I'd like to keep it that way if possible without all these remote issues.

Thanks to all who figure this stuff out for the rest of us.

There is quite a bit I think you may be confused about. Bluphant wrote an excellent tutorial on this. As soon as you have time, you should check it out. The first link below in my sig.

To address a few of your issues though:
    1. Updating the Homebrew Channel (HBC) will allow your new style remotes to work in the HBC. The HBC is simply an interface that allows you to launch the apps. You will still need to update your loaders. Your 1 gig card will be fine for this, the HBC and loaders are very small. So yes, you should accept the update. BTW, what bootmii option are you talking about? Installing it?
    2. Wiiflow can be updated, no extra steps for your kids. Download THIS and extract it directly to your sd card. It will overwrite the old Wiiflow files. Also, you should delete the sd/apps/wiiflow/wiiflow.cfg file and the contents of the sd/wiiflow/cache/ folder. Wiiflow will write new ones when you start it.
    3. I don't think CFG has been officially updated to work with the new remotes. You would need to use a cfg-mod. Take a look HERE if interested.

Cjizzle - Thanks for the reply. I'm sure I'm confused..lol.

To answer your question about the bootmii, When i went to the homebrew channel it said "update to homebrew channel v1.1.0 replacing installed v1.0.8 update now?" it also said that "homebrew channel now distributed in combined installer that can also install bootmii" thats where i got it.

To clarify things a bit, when i said i'd rather not have any extra steps for the kids, and you said i wouldnt have to have any cuz Wiiflow can be updated, I wasnt using an SD card in the Wii. When it was softmodded by "the guy" we just use the Wiiflow channel that comes up on the startup screen. I got the file you linked in your reply and will put it on an SD card, but will the updated Wiiflow have to be accessed from the SD card (thus making the "extra" steps i was talking about) or will it update the wiiflow that is actually softmodded onto the wii itself? Guess thats where I'm getting confused. I know the SD card is to run other programs and loaders and to have the covers show in wiiflow, but we werent using it since the games we have worked on Wiiflow (except the supermario bros that came with the wii...lol) and didnt care about the covers.

So i guess in the end i'm not really using the "homebrew" channel unless you count the wiiflow that was softmodded onto the wii and am really only looking for a way to make that wiiflow work with the new remotes. Hope I didnt confuse you too badly. Thanks again for the help.

P.S. i do have an SD card for some apps like cfg and usbloadergx to see what they did and to be able to try out the homebrew channel and thats when it asked if i wanted to update the cfg program. I guess there was a check for updates option i tried out to see what it would find.

Also i get an "! d2x cIos 249 rev6 or later is required" when i try out some apps from the Sd card so i guess I'm missing that too. I got the apps from the guy that softmodded my wii.

Cjizzle - A bit of an update for you. I put on the Wiiflow on the Sd card i got from your link, but I'm still getting the "! d2x cIos 249 rev6 or later is required" error so I'm going to have to fix that first i guess. Also when you said to "delete the sd/apps/wiiflow/wiiflow.cfg file" you meant the wiiflow.ini file right? I dont see a wiiflow.cfg file.

Once this is fixed though am i correct in assuming that when we turn the wii on we'll have to click on the hombrew channel, then click on the wiiflow box to then pick the game instead of just clicking on the wiiflow channel thats in the startup menu? Is there a way i could give the guy that modded my wii the Wiiflow version i got from you and he could redo the mod so it would be the one on the startup screen?

Dont worry, I'll be reading the guide you pointed me too next...lol. Thanks.

You are correct about the wiiflow file name....sorry bout that .

You will need to update your cIOS. Follow the d2x cios installation guide in my sig. I recommend using the offline installation and follow the recommended configuration.

You may be able to use the same wiiflow channel. After doing all of the above try it. If it doesn't work, delete it (same way as you would any other channel), and download a different channel from HERE and install the wad the same way as you installed the d2x wads in the d2x guide.
