You can contact the developers of HBC and make an obscene donation to fund the project.

HBC? Home Brew Channel? Based on this thread, it sounds like the problem is in libogc used by devkitpro used by all homebrew apps, not just HBC. So it doesn't seem that it would help to work on HBC.

It was a facetious statement... They will get to it when they get to it.. unless you really do have tons of cash to dump into the development you and every new wii owner out there that doesnt want to find an old remote will have to wait...

As a developer, I'm curious where a more technical discussion of the problem is taking place.

And I don't know how to find an old remote. No way to tell if there are any old remotes being sold anymore. I ran into the problem from a remote bought at Walmart. If Walmart and Amazon are selling the new version, I assume all new remotes are the new version.

Doesn't sound like there's a way to tell from the box.

FYI, I bought a Super Mario Wii bundle and another remote at Walmart. The remote that came with the Wii works fine, but the other remote is the C-6 variety which does not work w homebrew stuff but works fine w regular wii channels.

There's no real in-depth websites that are on the issue of the new remotes on Wii homebrew. The only real in-depth thing is the Dolphin Emulator thread that I have linked in the first post. It seems that no well-known homebrew developers are looking into the issue. So there's a possibility that this won't be fixed.

Dolphin Emulator has been patched to make these changed remotes work, so I think it would be possible for homebrew to be patched.

    Hi,

Not sure if this is OT to the thread or not, but I've had a few instances of my genuine Nintendo Wii remotes not working with HBC stuff, or working erratically.

One problem that comes and goes is, the P1 remote can be used to navigate the Wii menus, but once the HBC menu opens up, only the P2 remote will work! And it shows a "hand" symbol" that lacks color or number, i.e., isn't being recognized as P1 or P2.

I was able to fix this by remooving all batteries and resetting the controllers one at a time via the Wii's bluetooth setup procedure (pressing the little red button located in the controller's battery bay, then pressing the red button on the Wii located in the SD bay).

But, as soon as I went to change batteries the next time, the problem returned.

Then just today I tries playing some SNES games via the SNES emulator (can't remember the name, it's the standard app for HBC stuff) and after navigating though all the emu's menus, the game wouldn't respond to either controller!

So I'm very confused. Any info on any of this? I can't find anything through thread search except for this topic! Thanks for any help.

    Remote plus not working

Same problem here. Bought a wii yesterday, softmod with lettbomb, all woked out just fine. Now we Can not use the Wii remote plus to navigate through USB losser. We are now using an older type of remote to navigate. Once in à game THE new remote plus are working ok.

You're right, the problem is in the libogc ( in the wiiuse module i think ) I read that the new controller use another product ID ( #define WM_PRODUCT_ID 0x0306 ) in wiiuse_internal.h the new ID is 0x0330, i already try modify this id without any success, i also try to modify the WM_VENDOR_ID with the dolphin's one, but nothing work.

Maybe this info can help someone to find the clue.

I have a little good news, worth to try anyway. I realized by going into the HOME menu you can access the Wii controller menu, and can hot-swap the controllers from player one to player two (it's kind of confusing, you have to press the ! and 2 buttons in the order you want them to be in control, but it shows one controller with both buttons flashing, so I'm not sure how I did it right, but I did.)

After doing this, I now have control of P1 controller in the HBC menus, and also have regained use of the ontroller in emulators MAME and SNES.

So if you haven't tried this, try it. This doesn't adress the issue of a non-functioning controller, as far as I know, but I just wanted to post a solution to my own problem in case it could help anyone.

ED: And yes, I can confirm also that I have a new controller that doesnt work within the HBC and eny apps it loads. So, no multiplayer MAME or SNES... :^(
