Update HBC Issue
I'm trying to update my HBC from 1.0.6 to 1.0.8. Using Mauifrog's tutorial I down loaded the Hackmii installer and MMM. As described in tutorial I updated the two Wads and everything went fine. When I go to install the Hackmii Installer the black scam page comes up and the Wii freezes. I can't seem to get any further to load HBC and Bootmii. When I open HBC I keep getting a reminder to update to 1.0.8. I tried that way also and same thing happens. Black scam screen and Wii freezes. Am I missing something? My Wii is a 4.1U and according to my system check in MMM it states I'm using Boot2v4. Thanks for advice to update my HBC.
be patient and wait? It will eventually say "press 1". Team twiizers really wants you to read that disclaimer.
Thanks for your quick response. I read that it may take 1-2 mins so I left it for 5 mins and nothing came up. I retried it and left it again for 5 mins and nothing. Does it take more then 5 mins for it to come up? I don't remember it taking that long in the past. Thanks
No, it should not take 5 minutes. Presume you're using a 1 or 2 gig SD (NOT SDHC) card? If so, try again and format it with this sdfv2003.exe It's a Panasonic formatter for Windows specifically designed for sd media.
Just to verify, you DID get ios 58/etc installed in MMM prior?

Try to just run Hackmii Installer from HBC and see what happens.
Both IOS58 & IOS61 were installed successfully before moving on to the Hackmii installer. I have tried using both SD cards a 2gb SD & a 4gb SDHC to no avail. In my Wii currently and for the past two years I have used a 4gb SDHC with no problems that's why I find this so odd. I did format both cards as part of the process to figure this out but not with the program you suggested. I will give that a try and let you know what happens.

Hackmii installer and bootmii are very picky about cards. If it still fails then you need a different card.
That is another thing I tried. I went into HBC and clicked on installer and the same thing happened. Black scam screen and it just sits. As I stated in an earlier post I also downloaded from the reminder screen that pops up to upgrade to 1.0.8 and same thing. Freezes on Black scam screen. Thanks for your reply.
Thanks skellinator for your response. I have used two different SD cards. Both are Sandisk. This is the same card I used to hack my wii to begin with two years ago and I have never had an issue since until now trying to update HBC.
Okay here is an update and more info to help solve this issue with updating HBC to 1.0.8. I took BluPhants's advice and downloaded sdfv2003 and formatted my SD card again with this tool. Put Mauifrog's downloads back on my SD card and fired up the wii. I made sure both Ios58 & Ios61 wads completed successfully. I tried using the MMM and going through HBC to use Hackmii installer and all it does is go to the scam page and freezes.
If I put my old downloads back on SD card and go wii options--Data Mgt--Wii Channels--SD Card I will get the Load Boot.dol/elf? If I click yes I will get the scam page and I will get the option 1 to proceed. This is what it says in the current version I'm running now. Maybe this will help.
Hackmii Installer v0.5 2008,2009 Team Twiizers
Using Ios Version: Installer:34, HBC:61, DVDX:35
The Home Brew Channel: Can Be Installed
DVDX: Can Be Installed
Bootmii: Can Only Be Installed As An IOS
The Installed Boot 1 Version Prevents A Boot2 Install (-2)
Then I Continue
Install The Homebrew Channel
Uninstall The Home Brew Channel
I exit at this point because I cant install the new version of HBC as far as I can tell. Why can I get into the old installer but I can't get the new installer to get past the scam screen?
I'm sorry this is so long I want to be as accurate as possible to solve this. One last thing, when I'm in MMM and I go to display Boot2 Info it says
To Mod- Choose install & patch Ios 36 fromm MMM menu with a patched Ios 36/236. You'll be able to use it to install more homebrews such as channels, cioscorp wads, etc. Does this have anything to do with the updating issue. Thanks again for advice.
