    Install Backup Launcher on 3.4?

    Hi,

So I came across this guide on how to run Backup Launcher on System 3.4U.

Has anyone tried this? If so, can you use DVD Dumper? Does it downgrade the system or just alter some files? I want to be able to back up my games and was curious if it worked.

    Thanks!

Don't bother with that guide, use the downgrade tutorial in my signature. It'll give you everything you want.

You can use the WiFi DVD dumper, but it's not recommended. It's a heavy strain on the system.

Well...I didn't necessarily want to downgrade. I'm worried about bricking the system.

Do you know that the Wifi puts that much strain on the system? I mean, I would think that for games that rely heavily on the hardware and disk, it's constantly reading. But then again, I didn't build the Wii, so I don't know. =)

The 3.3 / 3.4 firmware block installations ... so you're going to have to downgrade.

The Wii caches data along the way. When duming a game, you're constantly spinning / reading every sector on the disc. It's a terrific way to kill your machine / weaken the laser.

It *IS* possible to install stuff on 3.4 and keep 3.4... I'm not sure exactly how I did it, but I am able to run backups, install wads, install channels, install dvdx, all that stuff on my 3.4U wii... it just took the right combination of installing IOSes and cIOSes... and trial and error. about the only thing I haven't tried is dumping a disc. but that's mainly because I don't have a great way to store the data.

So for those complaining about 3.4u/e/j/whatever... it CAN be done... just is a PITA.
