USB Loader GX - black screen when loading games

    Good Morning All,

I’m sure its been posted many times, but all the posts I've read don’t seem to solve my problem (apologies if it has been posted and over looked by me!)

I soft modded my (Wasabi chipped) 4.3E Wii using letter bomb.
I followed the restore Trucha bug tutorial, http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/hacking-guide/trucha
    Installed waninkoko's cIOS as http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/cios/waninkoko
Then installed Hermes cIOS222/223/224 as http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/cios/hermes-cios

Installed homebrew browser, and downloaded syscheckGX

    Installed usbloader_gx

Got a 1TB seagate hard disk formatted as NTFS, with a wbfs folder and two games.

The usbloader_gx complained that it couldn’t find the ntfs mount, so i downloaded and used iOS222 version.
That found the mountpoint and games. however when i try to load a game, the screen goes black, and wiimote disconnects.
Tried again formatting the disk as 20gb fat32, and rest as ntfs, no joy, and again with a fat32 memory stick with just a game one it.
All result in a black screen AFTER i click on the game to play it.

Found another forum post asking for help which directed the user to download dop-mii and delete stubs 222/223/224/249/250 IF they were stubs.

Checked all of mine and found they were all stubs so i deleted them and re followed the above guides to put "full" ios's back.

    Still no joy,

    Attached are the syschecks.

    Spoiler

    Any help is appreciated!

A ntfs or fat32 hdd will not load with cIOS 249 rev 17 unless you have the loader set to mload 222.... You need a cIOS of rev 19 or higher or 222 mload. Recommended is rev 21dx2v6.
Follow the Mod Any Wii guide so you are up to a spec that is the latest and most recognised...

Is your a hdd actually compatible with the Wii...

Thanks, is it best to "start fresh" or just re mod on top of what I already have?

It's not mentioned above but my first attempt at soft modding was successful following the guide attached( or some variant of) as I was able to play games off the disk. However further mods somehow messed things up...

    All done!!! Thanks!

Now I just gotta find a way to safely get rid of extra channels that I don't want!
    (backup disk loader, USB config)!

Just wondering how or what ya did? Not sure if mines doing the same as yours was. Have had mine soft modded for awhile and havent played in while. Started it up and usb loader gx when selected goes black screen then says dump codes on it for error. Not sure if someone might have updated the wii without saying and now it doesnt work. Havent messed with it and forget how the heck to check it all.

I followed the "mod any wii" guide more or less word for word... Step by step! Only thing I did after that was to download USB loader as an app to my sd card...

Thanks for the replies.. Upon further investigation I found someone did an in game update and out the window went the softmod. Used the guides as I couldnt remember and worked like a champ. Just trying to find some good channels to install for running backups and other useful ones.

USB loader gx does allow you to play backups from fat32, ntfs or wbfs mounts, and even make backups to wbfs or fat32 for backing up. Automatically gets covers etc and for me a nice easy to use interface...

    I need some help
I've had my 4.2 wii modded for a while now using bannerbomb (2 yrs ago, maybe) and everything worked great. But recently I've been getting black screens. Sometimes my backups work, sometimes they don't. I've tried d2x V8 installer (online and offline...tried using ios 36, 236, and 249) yet the problem persists. I've scanned my HDD and even tried a different one, so I'm pretty sure it's not the HDD. What's even weirder is that I recently helped a friend mod his 4.3 wii (letterbomb) and he is having the same problems with the same games as me.

Here's my syscheck, hope it helps. I had to install IOS 4 just to get syscheck to run, but here it is...

I'm using the latest USB loader GX, default settings (using ios 249 to launch games). Some of the games that consistently crash are,...Driver San Francisco (crashes after completing a mission), Williams Pinball Classics (black screen immediately after launching), Just dance 2 (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't launch), and a couple others I can't think of right now that work sometimes, and black screen other times.

Am I missing something here? Thanks for any help in advance.:P
