Unhappy Did I kill my USB Loader GX?

I think I might have messed up my wii. I ripped Zelda using USB Loader GX, then tried to run it straight away. Of course it rebooted the Wii. Then I went in and updated USB Loader GX from within the loader with the foolish hope that is all I would need to do. It downloaded the update, did it's thing, and said it was going to reboot the Wii. The Wii stayed on but the screen was black long enough that it didn't seem like anything was working so I eventually held down the power button to force the Wii to turn off.

Now when I try to run USB Loader GX it reboots the Wii immediately. I have NO IDEA where to begin to try and fix this as it has been close to two years since I've done anything with my wii. I'm guessing I could probably start over but is there any way to fix this and keep all my savegames etc.?

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'll fully admit I don't know what I'm doing. To get everything running in the first place I just followed guides.

I suggest updating your soft-mod before you do anything. (<- Required if you want to run any new games.)
    mauifrog's Guide: Soft-mod ANY Wii

Your save games should be safe and stored on the Wii's NAND. To confirm this, just go to "Wii Options" (bottom left of the Wii menu) -> "Data Management" -> "Save Data" -> "Wii" -> "Wii"
If you backed up your save games to your SD card, you can just copy the "Private" folder on the root of the SD card to your computer (or another safe place.)

You can download the latest USB Loader GX here: USBLoader_GX_V2_3_AllinOnePackage_IOS249.zip - usbloader-gui - The ultimative All-In-One package for USB Loader GX v2.3 (boot IOS 249) - USB Loader GX: GUI for Waninkoko´s USB Loader (based on libwiigui) - Google Project Hosting
Delete your old USB Loader GX folder before updating/installing (/apps/usbloader_gx)

I believe Zelda SS requires USB Loader GX v2.3+ and d2x v6+

For updating the soft-mod. Are you saying I should go through that soft-mod guide and just do it again?

Also, I'm looking at the folders on my sd card and there isn't a usbloader_gx folder in the apps folder. Did I lose it when it got stuck updating or could it be stored somewhere else?

If you have already done the Mod Any Wii Guide within the last 6 months then there is no point in doing it again. when did you do it?

Updating USB Loader through the application can give you this problem... http://www.wiihacks.com/submit-articles-tutorials/93579-updating-usb-loader-gx-v1-x-v2-2-a.html

    P

I haven't done anything with the wii in well more than 6 months until screwing it up last night. I think it might be closer to 2 years although I can't be sure.

Forgive my ignorance, how do I post a syscheck?

If you haven't touched the mod in 2 years then follow the guide linked to you above because a lot has moved on since then... Plus as suggested above do a fresh install of GX.

I'll give it a shot. Thanks to both of you! I'll let you know how it turns out, or maybe more likely, ask for help when I get stuck again. :P

Oh, but before I start. I was told to delete the USB Loader GX folder from the apps folder on the SD card. I don't see one there. Is it somewhere else or called something else?

The drive currently has folders titled 00000001, apps, bootmii, config, images, nus, private, and wad and then a boot.elf, hacks, installer, and 4 ios.wad files.

Then within the apps folder it shows AnyTitleDeleterMOD, cIOS38_rev14_installer, DOP-Mii, fceugx, Hermes cIOS Installer, homebrew_browser, NeoGamma R8 Beta 7, portii, Priiloader v0.3b, Snes9xGX, Trucha Bug Restorer v1.1, vbagx, and WAD-Manager_v1.5 folders.

Your apps sound like they are on your hdd and you are not using the sd card?? You must have a usb loader folder or config file at least? If you have a usb loader forwarder channel or full channel on your wii menu then use AnyTitleDeleter to remove it... Now remove all of the following and start again

00000001, apps, bootmii, config, images, nus, private, and wad and then a boot.elf, hacks, installer, and 4 ios.wad files.

AnyTitleDeleterMOD, cIOS38_rev14_installer, DOP-Mii, fceugx, Hermes cIOS Installer, homebrew_browser, NeoGamma R8 Beta 7, portii, Priiloader v0.3b, Snes9xGX, Trucha Bug Restorer v1.1, vbagx, and WAD-Manager_v1.5
If any of the apps I mentioned above you use IE fceugx, Snes9xGX ect then don't remove them...

It looks like USB Loader was installed right onto the Wii. I just deleted it. I'll run the guide now and see what happens.
