    USB Loader GX Black Screen

I have been happily playing my backup games via USB Loader GX using this softmodded method http://www.wiihacks.com/tutorial-arc...d-any-wii.html

My wii is version 4.1. A couple games wouldnt load, I didnt bother trying to get them to work. But I bought band hero the other day, copied it to the hdd and tried to play it and would just get a black screen. Read up on it and it seems some of the music games need different settings, cios etc. All I changed to try to get it to work was to change (settings just for the band hero game) to ios222 and error002 fix anti as per posts I read. Didnt work so I shut it down.

Now USB Loader GX will not open at all. Just get a black screen when using the forwarder or when going thru the homebrew channel it comes up with
    Starting up
    Initialising controllers
    Initialising usb (wake up)
    Reloading ios249...0
    Initialising wfbs...0
    Initialising sd card
    Initialising wfbs device
    Loading configuration...done
Reloading IOS to config setting (250)...-2
ERROR: cIOS could not be loaded then a few seconds later it just goes back to the homebrew channel.

How do I get around this? The hdd and and sd card appear OK, can see the files thru wiixplorer on homebrew channel. What should I do? Can I softmod it again with a better tutorial than the one i used or is that dangerous and may brick it?

    Will await replies. Many Thanks

If you run through the softmod any wii guide in my signature it will get you up to date. I would also try some other loaders like CFG. I'm willing to bet your cios is a little out of date and following that guide will get you up and running and update your loaders at the same time.

edit: this will help you understand a little more as well: http://www.wiihacks.com/wii-games/69...mes-guide.html

Many Thanks for such a prompt reply junkmail. Even though it may just be ios out of date etc, there is no issue softmodding again? and with a different softmod process?
Guess I should use a new sd card?
Sorry for me been so vague, but if I take out the sd card and take off the external hdd, is the wii back to original state? ie does all the softmodding get done on the sd card? Would it be back to stock standard when I bought it then?

I will get onto the reading of the new method to softmod now. Many thanks.

No, the softmod effects the wii itself so removing the sd card would just remove the apps and files stored on it. I would back up your sd content to your pc, follow the anywii guide (no issues softmodding again,) and use the sd you have now to softmod. 2GB SD is recommended (microsd and sdhc doesn't jive well with some softmodding steps. Can't mess anything up by trying the sd you have now though.)

Thanks for the clarification. I have a couple spare 2gb SD cards so I guess it doesnt matter that I use a new one and leave the original one alone?
Since i already have my wii softmodded, chapter 1,Part 1- Launch Hackmii Installer
can i just use the method Softmods with HOMEBREW CHANNEL installed? I think when I first soft modded it I used the Bannerbomb method.
Chap1, part3 Nand backup, still have to do this even though i have already softmodded?
Chap2, no need to upgrade my ios from 4.1 to 4.3? By leaving it at 4.1, will not affect this softmod guide?

Have read this procedure a few times, will read it a few more times to make sure I have it all clear! It looks easier than when I first done it, but that could be decieving!!! Thanks.

You're obviously reading so we're glad to help. Not many people bother to do that much. You can use a spare SD card no problem. Yes, follow the guide and leave it at 4.1 if you're on that already. Start where it talks about "for users with HBC already installed." Yes, this guide is easier than the one you followed last time thanks to new apps and Mauifrog. Good luck! (still make a new NAND back up and keep it in a safe place on a PC somewhere.

I am not sure what version of GX you have, but I have yet to find a game I cannot play on mine. Have a look at the guide to update yours.

Have to check but i think Im using v2. When I say a few games wouldnt play, I mean about 3 or 4 out of 150 that wouldnt play on the default settings (cios etc). Updating my USBloader GX wouldnt fix my black screen issues getting into USB loader GX though, would it??
Just cannt understand that I made only a couple settings change for one game and now my loader will not start. The changes (changing to ios222 and error002 fix anti) I made or not universal are they (ie they just apply to the game)?
Anyway probably a good idea to have a more updated softmodded wii.

    Cheers

Thanks to all. Working OK with the new softmod process as suggested to use. Using CFG loader, ran a couple games, worked fine. Havent tried the "troublesome one" yet, Band Hero! The channel for USB Loader GX still doesnt work (still black screens), so I am not sure what is going wrong there. May have to stick with CFG Loader.

    Once again Many Thanks.

If you really want GX run through the guide for GX skell linked above. I would stick with CFG though since it's freaking awesome and has more options. Glad you got it going.
