Help with restoring wii (I think I messed up)

Firstly, apologies for being a complete noob and idiot.

I hacked my wii summer 2010, but haven't really used it much since then (therefore haven't been updating). My wii at the time was version 4.2.

Anyway, I hacked it using a guide from this website, it all went smoothly etc. Anyway, fast forward to now, and I decided I wanted my wii restored to factory setting, and I read somewhere online that all I need to do is go to wii settings, and restore to factory settings. So I did that, and everything looked ok, but the game I'm playing will not load the update it's supposed to onto my wii (it just says update failed).

Is my wii screwed? Is there anything I can do?

You probably have priiloader installed and set to block updates. Hold in your reset button when you power up the wii, priiloader will launch. Disable the block disc updates hack and then your wii will accept a disc update. The update will remove priiloader so you wont have to deal with it anymore.

Nah, with updates blocking set to "disabled" it still says "update failed". With update blocking "enabled" I get a blue screen with "Error #002"

Maybe you have startpatch or something like that installed also?

Aside from your question(s), why did you attempt to revert your Wii to "factory" if you don't mind me asking?
