    Wii stopped playing discs.

    Hello,

I've softmodded my 4.3u Wii using the letterbomb technique. I've been able to play dvds and such using WiiMC. The only Ios' I installed were the ones necessary to make Configurable USB Loader run. I got the USB Loader to run and was able to boot discs up and play them from the disc drive.

My problem is this, I went to play a genuine unaltered NTSCU game today. I put it in the disc, went to the Wii menu, and went to the disc channel. The game showed up as expected. I clicked on it and went to play it. The screen went black and the remotes turned off. Tried a couple games and got the same thing. I can boot them up using tinyloader, but don't want to have to do that each time.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    robodude2829

Did you follow this guide, or some failguide? The way you speak, it suggests some other guide. You could always post a SysCheck as described here.

LOL. Yes I followed this guide for the general hack. I did follow a guide from someplace else for the Configurable USB Loader. Gotta love mauifrog. Isn't he like the father of wii hacking?

Post the SysCheck as requested. As for Configurable USB Loader, um there's a wiihacks guide for that as well...

Um, your cIOS slots are for the most part stubbed. 222/223/249/250 are stubs. 236 (a clone of IOS 36) isn't stubbed, nor is cIOS 248. Please follow the link I previously gave for a proper softmod --- and for god sakes, install Priiloader and block updates --- just as the guide instructs you to do so.

Edit: black screens on original/retail discs are generally attributed to missing IOS. If you Wii lacks a specific IOS that the game requires, a black screen will result.

If I install priiloader (which I did not to long ago) and block updates, will that make it where I will not be able to play discs that require me to download an update?

I do have priiloader. I just don't normally boot it up. I just use bootmii. However, if I hold the reset button while turning on the wii, the priiloader menu comes up.

    Thanks.

Priiloader blocks online and disc updates, if Enabled.

If Blocked Online and disc Update is Enabled,You will be able to play the game without taking any update,Unless your missing an IOS Needed for the Game Or if you have Stubbed CIOS.

Take Nightstah advice and redo the hack With Softmod ANY WII.

Sigh. The only update your Wii would need (on playing original/retail media) would be the necessary IOS. If you follow mauifrog's guide, you'll have the IOS and the cIOS you'll need for originals and backups. You have to enable the relevant hacks, having it installed without enabling certain hacks is not my idea of a successful install...

Do I need to return the wii to original state befoe hacking it again? I looked back at the guide and found that I did step chapter one and then stopped. I think the language was a bit to technical for me at the time Makes more since now. And not to gripe, but please don't being sighing and stuff. Some of us are just Noobs
