Oh thank god. Something finally somewhat easy through this entire process. Thanks again guys. I'll get a new drive, swap it out, and let you know how it goes. Thanks again for all your help.

Edit: Out of curiosity, and more just to make sure I don't botch it with the wrong info, does anyone know the model of the older drives vs the new ones that can't play backup discs? Thanks.

I don't really trust them with breakable things like that.

OK, so I've ripped it apart. It's a GC-2-D3-2 drive, from the looks of it. What are my options? Or can this really not play backup games now? If it can't, why could it before?

GRSHOPR i moved to usb loading because my GF's kid abuses discs and likes to shove stuff in the rom drive to see the pretty blue lights. With a big enough usb hard drive loaded with your games you can virtualy lock away the wii...
Problem with this place is the tutes are that damn good that one could end up not learning as deep as they should... Dont just rely on the tutorials understand your Wii...

It's looking like I don't have much of a choice, but I'm going to see what I can do, maybe there has been some new development with it. Waiting to see what the powers that be say.

@grass You can play backup discs with that drive. Your only option is USB loading, I recommend it, it's better, loads game faster, and more compatible then disc loaders. You can replace the drive with an older one tho
