CFG USB and USB Loader GX not recognizing USB drive

I recently upgraded the mods to this Wii console using the mauifrog tutorial. I can't get CFG USB or USB Loader GX work. CFG says the USB drive is unresponsive and Loader GX says waiting for USB device and then loads back to the system menu. I tried several of the suggestions posted on other similar posts like going be to IOS rev 17 and making sure my USB drive is formatted for WBFS. The USB drive does load on another console with older mods. Don't know what to do at this point. I also tried both USB ports but got nothing. Here's a syscheck log. Hopefully someone can help me out. Not sure why syscheck says the console is on menu 0.0 but when I view it in the console is says 4.1U.

    Spoiler

Could be you are using older versions of your loaders. Try updating CFG to the latest version using its built in update feature. Also, GX should be upgraded to 2.2 in order for it to recognize the d2x cIOS (rev 21006).

I checked and my GX is on version 2.2. I'm not sure what version CFG is. I can't update it from within the program because it just sits there and waits for the HDD to respond. I tried pressing "1" twice to get to the upgrade menu but nothing happens. Could it be that I'm just missing a file somewhere?

Delete the contents of the "config" folder on the root of your sd card, then try to run GX again.

I actually don't have a config folder in the root of my SD. Is that a problem? My SD root folder looks like this:

    /apps
/usb-loader (I believe this the the CFG files)
    /wad
    boot.dol
    hacks_hash.ini
    keys.bin
    nand.bin
    startup.elf
    USBloaderCFG.dol

Following up on this issue. I still haven't resolved it. Any other suggestions as to how I can get this to work?

Well installing rev 17 won't help much so i'd revert back to what you had.

Is the drive on the compatibility list?

Have you tried formatting the drive to fat32? For this to work with the usb loader you will have to revert back to the old cios...

Ps a new config folder should be created if there isn't one when usb loader is started up.

I will try creating the config folder. The drive works on a couple of other modded consoles I have but all of them are older softmods. I guess I should go back and reload all the IOSs from the mauifrog tutorial.
