Neogamma, but usually at least I get a message on the disc channel, either showing the icon of the game or a message that I need to update the firmware. Right now, nothing is loading at all (for games that aren't launch games).

Argh, no dice. Should I uninstall a bunch of stuff and reinstall? Is there a way to clear out the darkcrap you suspected was in there?

This forum has never really been in support of cioscorp or any of it's derivatives, we have made attempts at guides to help ppl to remove them. As the hacking process evolved into using usb devices, the amount of ppl to be in your situation has also been on the decrease. Alot of the guides for removal have been archived and/or no longer supported by their authors.

This is one of those kinds of things you will need to research. You can look for cioscorp or darkcorp issues on these forums, as well as doing some google searching on uninstalling these.

I am no expert at analyzing IOS, as the need for this in softmodding has made the issue irrelevant. but judging by your cios revision in slot 249, and at the time that was widely used, I would have to guess that you have an instal of the more classic Cioscorp, rather than The Darkcorp that came out much later on. I would search for Cioscorp uninstaller, but there are few that are experts in assisting on that issue.

The reason for ppl telling you this is that you will see (rev 65535): Trucha Bug next to almost all of your IOS. this was a way to max-out the revision and trucha it to enable disk backups to be played from the disk channel.

I also wonder if Cioscorp was dependant on dvdx in order to function, and somehow this was messed up from the op trying to install things. This would explain the reason the disk channel isn't reading the disks. Unless of coarse the drive is begining to fail.

I installed dvdx after things were messed up (because I hadn't come across it before), so it's not the culprit. And while I considered that the drive is failing, it reads Twilight Princess and Elebits with no problem.

Then there is nothing more to think about other than getting Cioscorp uninstalled, and doing a proper softmod.
