    Having generic problems

    Hi,

Not quite sure if this is the right forum but it's the closest I can find

Basically I'm having trouble with my Wii freezing up during downloading.

The Wii started with Firmware 3.1E and was upgraded (via sd card) to Firmware 3.2E with Starfall. Twilight Hack was used to install Homebrew channel.

The internet works fine in the normal channels and the Homebrew channel updater works without problems.

However any attempt to download large files i.e. via the Wii System Updater or from the Homebrew Browser causes the Wii to freeze. Homebrew Browser at 60% failure rate and the System Updater at 100% failure rate.

The router which is a WAG300N (b/g/pre-n) with 1.07 firmware says that the Wii disconnects from the wireless and anything other then a hard off/on doesn't cause a response from the Wii.

Since I'm not sure where I should be asking for help with this I'm asking more for generic advice on how I should proceed.

    Thanks in Advance

Why would you want to download the Wii System Update? If you configured starfall to block updates, I bet its doing its job.

Also, download the Homebrew Browser on your PC.

I would like to be able to download things with my Wii in general without the Wii locking up.

For example so I can actually install things with the Homebrew Browser

Starfall blocks updates from discs inserted into the Wii not from the system menu.
Also I have tried disabling starfall and it has no effect
(I'm only using it has a test case I don't really want to update my Wii's firmware)

it downloads things, and puts them in a folder in the apps, with the .dol named boot, nothing else

you got to uninstall starfall using starfall

    Ahh I'm being slightly misunderstood.

When I use the homebrew browser to download applications the wii just locks up solid at about 80% chance.

The wii doesn't respond and the router says it's no longer a active wireless client etc...

I have no interest in installing another firmware (and I can do that anyway.... by copying it to a sd card and installing it that way)

well, it sounds like a router issue, try getting a new browser or doing it manually

    Yeah most likely the case
Can't ftp large files to it either

Most likely I just need to go buy a cheap usb wireless dongle to communicate with it

    Cool Homebrew freeze up

Whenever I try to download an emulator (or anything else) from the Homebrew channel, the screen freezes as soon as i click "download". I'll note that i recently softmodded using the hack pack for firmware 4.2.
