Talking Wii Shop and IOS51 installer on a Brand New Wii

Hello, new to this, and appreciate the help. I did a search and read FAQ, but did not see a post for this exact situation.

I juuust bought my wii... haven't updated it... I'm on version 3.3.... I juuuust connected to my router/internet.... canceled the update... I have not even installed the Wii Shop... or done any Internet/ Weather/News, connection yet... and hence, have not yet agreed to any End User Agreements, as I'm afraid to even do any of that (afraid it might update/change something)....

I'd like to install all the goodies (Homebrew, apps, dvd, fake IOS51 update, that Starr app for blocking game updates, etc.) in the correct order, and don't want to mess it up or accept/update something I shouldn't by connecting to the internet just yet...

Question: Could someone tell me if it's okay to go ahead and go into the Wii Shop, Internet, News and Weather RIGHT NOW (before I do any homebrew/twilight/patch/I0S51 installing), and accept the EULAgreement? Or, should I install the Wii Shop I0S51 update that Tona/Muzer built first before connecting and accepting the Wii Shop and other agreements (as well as connecting to the internet, forecast, news, etc).

Is Wii Shop even really necessary/cool if I have my own emu's/rom's (legal... ahem, of course)?

Of course, I won't do the "upgrade/update" to the system itself, but would like to know the order I should procede with the "legit" Nintendo setup vs. the "IOS51 patch and also the Twilight hack" setup. And honestly, I'm not even sure what menu/paths the EULA's would take me down since I don't want to try it yet - so FULL explanation is appreciated!

Oh, also, should I downgrade from 3.3 to 3.2?

    Thanks!

install the update, though some people report the channel doesnt work anymore

    not worth it

its 100% needed unless you want, to install the update, but the shop isnt worth it, and highly over priced, just install what you want with wad manager

    Thumbs up

    1. Okay, so when you say "install the update" you're saying it's okay to go ahead and accept the EULA's on Wii Shop/News/Forecast/Internet/etc., and this won't move me to 3.4 from 3.3?

    2. And you're also saying, conversely, that Wii Shop isn't worth even installing if I have access to other goodies (emu's roms etc.)?

    3. And finally, you're saying if I don't need/want the Wii Shop, I can just go ahead and bust into the process you outlined the nice guide you created and linked, without accepting any EULA's?

    4. Finally, finally... at what point in your WAD manager guide should I install the IOS 51, and Cios 37 patches or doesn't it matter?

    Thanks!!!!

The Nintendo prompted update message will move you to a 3.4.

The Wii Shop fix and IOS51 are a bundle and it really doesn't hurt to execute it. My Shop channel is fixed, but I haven't used it : P

There's more to the entire 3.3 and 3.4 picture besides the shop fix. Be sure to check out that link in my sig.

The Wad Manager is a terrific utility. It'll install Virtual Console, WiiWare, and firmware patches to your machine.

When Nintendo cuts loose a firmware update, it's actually a package. Some of it is for playing games, most of it is anti-piracy. People separate what you need and don't need to play. What you need becomes a IOS__.wad release.

    For example:
Animal Crossing bumped you to a 3.4. With IOS38.wad installed, I can play the game on my 3.2.

to sum it up, just install homebrew, downgrade to 3.2, and use starfall to disable disc updates.

i was at 3.3U i downgraded to 3.2U and when i clicked on shop it asked me to upgrade first, so i ran the Load Shop IOS51 app and installed the latest shop. Im still running 3.2U and my shop works, i confirmed this with purchasing Mega Man 9
