    newbie in need of help

    Hey guys i just got a wii recently, and I want to hack it to play backups. I did it with my xbox360 but im totally new with wii and have no clue where to start. I did the soft hack and i got the homebrew channel on it, but i need a chip to play backups. My serial is LU341076535. If you guys could direct me in the right direction it would be great. What chip i need, where i can get it the cheapest, and one that's easy to install snapon i guess, whatever is the best for money for my wii. Thanks and i appreciate your time and help.

    Ok first off you can run bakckups while using homebrew through the backup launcher app. It is not a good choice compared to a modchip. You will want to run your serial number in the wiitracker to find out what drive you have. If you want to have an easy installation then you should get a chip that has a clip.

    the wii tracker says:
    There is a 50% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2C
    There is a 50% chance that the pins on your drive chip are not cut.

    and wii drive chip data base says:
    Your drive most likely has the following chipset:
    * There is a 100% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C (v1).

    Ok now you want to look at what type of chip you would like to own. Canadamods has everything you are probably looking for.

    Well if you want a nice chip, that can just snap in I would recomend the D2pro9 v3 with a clip. That is what I am running
