sounds like you got a mouse making a nest in there. why dont you just by a modchip instead of risking breaking your wii completely?

well if the system wont read a DVD-R with the backup loader, it probably wont read it with a modchip either....

Ive tried Verbatim and Maxell discs and they both click like this.

i understand that, but the fact that factory games read just fine, and burned media has a problem booting, and the way the laser is clicking sounds like the laser cant handle burned media. I had a similar problem with modding PS2.

If i get a new drive ill prolly pickup a chip or a pre-modded one, but i dont want to get one if this drive can be fixed easily.

The PS2 had some screws you could adjust the power of the laser, i didnt see this on the wii laser.

i think getting a pre-modded drive is a great idea, and ina way i wish i did that

we all know our drives will die one day, but will it be today??????
