little help please with softmod
I've read every night since Christmas. Just got the wii for the kids and have worked my way thru EoC's guide. Softmoded only, no chip here.
I have my wii at 3.2u, with HBC, starfire, and gamma installed as a channel.
I added other HBC games and apps that do work.
I have dloaded iso's of mario kart and CoD3 (found out it isn't working yet) both are 4,699,979,776 bytes
I have burned on 2 different dvd drives, using memorex dvd-r, then I bought some verbatim dvd-r. I've burnt some with the brickblocker, and some without.
I am struggling on the steps to launch the game. I've tried installing the backup into the dvd drive first, then launching gamma....etc...
Do I need to reboot using 'B' with hooks ??
I need some advice to get over the final hurdle and get some backups working.

Thank you Chris.
I have already installed that, and have used 'any title deleter' to see what ISO's I have installed and there are a bunch. ( I can list if needed )
My internet connection is DSLow so once I had HBC installed I didn't have any backups, so I searched for other programs thinking my install went perfect. I got mplayer to work with an avi file, and I downloaded a program called Homebrew Browser and installed a few of those apps. I feel I mixed too many installs and maybe corrupted things.
Is there a way to 'start over' ?
Or a way to look at what's on my wii and see where my mistake was made? Any Title Deleter shows quite alot of info
is it says no dvd when u launch game if it says no dvd its mean u couldnt put ios 249 probly try to put 249 frrom wad file and mario kart doesnt work if u burn 4 or 2 speed download image burner 1x try it and answer me
I had this happen to me the other day. What's weird is that the Gamma channel was working fine for me.
Then, I starting going overboard on installing this and that through homebrew. The next time I tried to use Gamma the burnt games wouldn't load any more; the screen just stayed black.
I ended up just reinstalling Gamma over the top of the existing one, and long and behold it started working again.
Maybe reinstalling Gamma would help in your case, too.
I finally got it !
I tried to uninstall som ISOs using the Wad Installer and Cios Installer, but could only get djTaz_gamma to uninstall. I would receive errors trying to uninstall IOS16 and 249.
I used Any Title Deleter and removed ISO 16, ISO 249, and ISO 51.
Reinstalled IOS16, then gamma, and IOS 249 again, and it worked on Mario Kart backup dvd-r.
Then I tried CoD3 backup and it worked too !!
hope this helps someone get it working.
I never reinstalled ISO 51. Do I need it ??
thats great to hear! hey man thats why we are all here... to help one another out ya know?

all i wanted cleared up is - what needs to be done to an .iso file before burning to dvd-r?
i have the .iso files ready(wii game backups) and wanted to know what needs to be done before burning them to disc. can i just go ahead a burn the image as it is? ive heard that the .iso needs to be patched/converted to 249 before burning?

If you have the backup loader 0.3 or above or a modchip, just burn it and play.
