Why do I keep getting error messages when I try to install a wad via wad manager?

I load wad manager through the Homebrew Channel, but after that, I just encounter one of the following:

-Wii remote turns off. I have to restart.
    -Error messages. Lots of them.

I have a 4.3 U Wii. In my SD root, I have these folders:

    -apps/Wad Manager/boot.dol
    -wad

I want to install <no youtube videos> for convenience.

    What am I doing wrong?

Also, is there another way to get a Wii channel?

    Edit:

I want to install the Gecko OS 1.9.1 channel.

    1. You are trying to use a none patched IOS or cIOS
    2. You are using a stubbed IOS

Have you followed a softmod guide such as the Softmod AnY Wii guide by mauifrog?

I resolved the problem by getting a Gecko OS boot.elf for Homebrew Channel.

But I would still like to know if there's an alternative way to get a Wii channel without WAD manager.

You can use DOP-mii to load any channel that is free from Nintendo without the need for an update. If you are referring to VC or Wiiware then you wont find any help getting those games on this site.
