HP smartsave 500gb usb hard drive works with Uloader but not with usbloader gx or CFG

So i bought this brand new HP 500gb Smartsave USB 2.0 hard drive. Formatted the one partition to WBFS, and one smaller one as NTSC for disc images and such.

I load USB Loader gx(newest version, downloaded last night) and it loads the hard drive when i unplug it prior to loading the loader, then i plug it in and it loads. After about 25 seconds the loader pretty much freezes but has limited extremely jerking wiimote motion and use.

CFG loader (newest version as well) has loaded once but only via channel not via HB(which is what i want anyways) but hangs and stalls once the main screen loads.

ULOADER works flawlessly, downloaded covers and played several games.. but i don't like the look and feel of ULOADER, and i hate the music in the background.

I also used the Pimp my wii program last night and updated all IOS' and have all the newest versions of everything.

WII is 4.3u softmodded with Indpawns hack. let me know if you need any other info from me.

Just want either the CFG or USBloader GX to work with the hard drive..... Thanks for your help. constant reader first time poster

PimpMyWii is a bad choice and usually does more harm than good. It's not recommended. If I'm not mistaken or it has been recently updated it is supposed to take your IOS up to the revs they were at with the 4.1 system menu. Admittedly I haven't looked at the program in a long time. If you wouldn't mind posting a sys check because I would like to see what it did to your system.

Okay. So I was right about the rev thing with PMW. If you started with a 4.3 you already had the most recent IOS so it didn't downgrade anything or whatnot but it did unnecessarily patch a lot of your IOS and it looks like you weren't properly softmodded to begin with. I would suggest running through our softmod any Wii guide to start and undoing some of PMW's damage. Obviously you don't need the install the homebrew channel step. After that if you are still having problems we can go from there.

ok so i did the guide on wiihacks for mod any wii. and the hard drive still freezes after it loads on USB Loader gx 2.0 and CFG. Wiiflow doesn't start at all.

Uloader still works fine, runs and loads games. i really want to use USB loader or Wiiflow
